Archibald at Barca, O'Connor at Lokomotiv - some of these are obvious. But in recent times (say, since 1970), how many Scots have played in the top leagues outside the UK?

Robbie Winters & Charlie Miller - Brann
Edit, did anglo-Scot Richard Hughes not play for Atalanta? Although that might have been in the second division.
Also, Jamie Stevenson played in Spain but probably not in the first team.

Jim Bett played for F.C. Lokeren back in the 1980s.
Steve Nicol played for New England Revolution as player-manager.
Scot Gemmill currently plays for New Zealand Knights I think.

I'd wager that there's more than just a few Scots plying their trade in Northern Ireland & the RoI's top flights...
...and also LOADS of successful Scots playing in the English first Division/Premiership, which I suppose could be included??

Armadale aren't top league.
I just remembered some others.
Steven Tweed played for MSV Duisburg but they might have been in the 2. Bundesliga at the time. I think he then played in the J-League?
There's a guy playing in the Icelandic top division, think he's ex-Aberdeen, can't remember his name now, I had it a second ago

When McInnes and Anderson played for Toulouse they were in Ligue 2. They went up that season but neither was around to play in Ligue 1.

I'm pretty sure that Jamie Smith played in Holland before he signed for Aberdeen. Not sure if it was the top league though.

The legendary Chico played for Djurgarden in Sweden although I don't know if they were a top flight team at that time.

He went on loan in 1992 and they were relegated that season, although he made no appearances.
In the second tier in 1993 he played 12 times, scoring 3 goals.
So, 50/50 there.

Inglis played for Levski Sofia in the top division for two seasons, and later Botev Plovdiv in the second tier for 3 games (they were newly relegated and bounced straight back.)
Pittman was a Yank so he's not a Scot Abroad
However, played for two MLS clubs, the now-defunct Tampa Bay Mutiny and the Kansas City Wiz (as they were then, Wizards now.)
Can't find any record of McWilliams' playing stats outside Scotland so I assume it was lower league.
