Standout player from your club this season

Recommended Posts

Who do you think the most important player in each position for your team will be this season?

For us I'd go:

Defence- McGregor. Solid. Reliable. A hibby. Reads the game well and is one of the best defenders in the league.

Midfield- McGinn. Would run through walls for you. Very composed on the ball and will be vital for us this season as he was one of the standouts last season.

Striker- hopefully a new striker who can hold the ball up and give us a different option, if not then Cummings assuming he stays.

Defence - Gregor Buchanan.  Shaky at times last year but on the whole was absolutely solid and his pace makes up for the deficiencies of the rest of the defence.  I expect him to be probably our most important player this year.

Midfield - Andy Stirling.  We don't have much of a midfield signed up at the minute, but Stirling looks to be the creative player we were missing all last season.  It could turn out to be Ryan Stevenson who, if on his game, should still be excellent at this level but a lot of question marks over him.

Striker - Has to be Garry Fleming. Top scorer and player of the year last year and currently only 1 of 3 strikers we have signed up (one being a former youth who is yet to properly breakthrough).  Every Sons fan in the world is still holding out hope that Prince Nade will return to us this year and if he does then he'll be our main man.

Defence - Craig Barr. As close to a Scottish Hummels as your likely to see

Midfield - Lewis Toshney if he stays. Extremely calm on the ball. Our player of the year last year and will likely pick up that award again this year. Absolutely brilliant at protecting the back four. Throws himself in front of everything. If he does go though, I think Bobby Barr will also be a really, really vital player next season. Ripping team's right backs to shreds I'm sure..

Attack/ Striker - Wee Lewi Vaughan. The season before last, from about February onwards, he showed unbelievable skills for an 18 year old. The goal against Qots was unreal. Skinning 3 defenders inside out. Durnan being one of them, then calmly popping it into the bottom corner. Also turned up on the soccer Saturday showboat, for his trickery against Alloa that year as well, in between Cristiano Ronaldo and Neymar. Will be a massive player for us this year.

Lewis Vaughan to win young poty this season. New contact at Xmas time with Raith meaning they get money for him.

Unless Gary Locke manages to turn him into Gary Glen. Then there will be problems.

Defence: I reckon if Fordyce is fit he will be our best, he was absolutely strolling it early last season until the brutal leg break.

Midfield: Geggan. Probably our best all round player.

Attack: Reilly. Proven at this level and was brilliant when he last worked under AJ.

Defence :- Murdoch, Fordyce and BRE are unproven at this level, could go either way. Murdoch though is a genuinely good keeper, never seen one command his area so well at this level.

Midfield :- Geggan? Good at this level previously and AJ has been a great influence on him, has a tendency to jump into challenges though.

Forward - Reilly probably.

Fordyce played for Livi at this level..

Defence - Mark Russell; Great young player who's just improving every game he plays, very good going forward and is now more comfortable at the defensive side of things. Bright future ahead of him if he keeps improving.

Midfield - Michael Tidser; He's already shown what he's capable of in this division, if he can get him fit, and partner him with someone to do the dirty work he will once again be one of the best midfielders in the division.

Defence - Gary MacKenzie is a great signing for us at this level, I think he will contribute greatly to the team, and score a few goals too.

Midfield - Mallan will continue to develop and score a few goals again, he should get more assists this season from set pieces.

Attack - ? We only have Clarkson just now but I have faith in Div, Sutton should score 10-15 goals with the correct service.

That's Tidser's problem isn't it? Been a bit of a disastrous signing second time round for Morton.
