West Region AGM

Or even only three, if the league doesn't start till 3rd September.

yip  possible league games on 3rd,10th and 24th Sept(maybe less if Scottish Cup )

So you could be in October having played 2 league games, but don't worry you will get 10 league games in May.

this may get me shot down in flames, but do away with the Ardgah Cup and its Central Cup Brother in its current format... Id make both cups for non super league/1st teams , allow the top ammie sides entry from each region to make up the numbers.

Start the Super league campaign early and get games played when the weather is more favourable. As the poster says above starting in Sept with Beith and Talbots possible big  Scottish involvement  could mean they wont be playing league games til Oct which is a joke..

So if beith and Auchinleck progress in senior Scottish cup they might not play a league game til October

Auchinleck and Beith could start their league campaign earlier than everyone else by playing each other in a "season curtain raiser" ?

They'll also get a bye in the first round of the junior cup so will be able to play a league fixture that day. Unless every c**t has gone to Blackpool that weekend ...

I know for a fact that a West region club could have secured a friendly against a local senior club that would have brought enough interest in that it could have paid for said junior club's expenses for the coming season as it would have been the senior teams first pre-season game, alas our backward thinking SJFA, or member clubs to be more specific, wont allow clubs to play friendlies before the third Saturday in July when all the senior teams are already well into their season thus depriving many junior clubs of a big turn.

The Scottish Amateur's , who are also based at Hampden, do IMO the best social media of anything I've seen, while our Juniors at the same venue do nothing and its left to the clubs and individuals to promote our grade.

The likes of Davie Brown @ Pollok the boys at Auchinleck, Clydebank, Glenafton etc do so much more on a volunteering basis to promote junior football than the guys that are paid to do it are doing at present.

Its a cliche we know that but as clubs we have to be bigger and better and promote from within and hit our local areas and give this wonderful grade of football the platform it deserves.

The SJFA now allow clubs to play from 1st July onwards, but for whatever reason they let each Region decide when to start in their area.

The East Region this season moved it forward a week to 9th July.

Why the SJFA left it upto the Regions to decide is anyones guess, just allow all clubs play from 1st July regardless of Region and be done with it.
