Benefit of hindsight however shows the motherwell result resulted in the most positive action the club have made in the last few seasons , however at the time was far more dissapointed with that result than the hibs game . It want even comparable

While Ive always laughed off the claims by your fans and the likes of Derek Johnstone that last year's playoff was a blessing in disguise for Rangers as self assuring bravado and bluster, in fairness to you I do see your point about changes, especially your manager. If you'd have stuck with that buffoon McCall, regardless of whether you had beaten us or not, you'd have been humiliated if in the top flight and probably struggled to win promotion if in the Championship. And McCall would never have overseen a Cup victory over Celtic so in that sense I'm glad you got shot of him. :)

Apparently we were going to hire Vitor Pereira or Alex McLeish had we got promotion... thank f**k we stayed down in the case of McLeish but who knows how the other bloke might have done.

Motherwell game aside McCall deserves some credit, he got us playing decent and helped us to get wins over both Hearts and Hibs. Under McDowell we looked as if we may have not even reached the play offs nevermind get to the final.

That was a McCall trademark from his time at Fir Park, we'd do okay in run of the mill games with less importance but show him a big game, ie a Cup match, especially when the tournament was wide open and nine times out of ten he'd show you the colour of his shite as he bottled it and got it all wrong from preparation, to team selections, substitutions and gameplan. And so it proved in spectacular fashion in the playoff when Ian Baraclough(of all duds) handed him his arse on a plate over the two games. :)

Most of that team was out of contract after those games and they played like it, McCall had a thankless task. Overall he improved fitness and introduced some tactics to a disgrace of a team.

Quite happy we've got Rangers first and as early as that as both sides will still effectively be in pre season mode at that point and they'll have had little or no time to get into any stride given that they will no doubt have a number of new recruits so that could well work in our favour here.

Will Motherwell be giving Rangers half a stand again? Surely they will considering the **** are threatening to cause trouble?

We will have to give them the full stand since the SPFL review said we brought the trouble in the stands on ourselves by restricting Rangers allocation.

Glad to get Rangers first to get it out the road, can see them trashing our ground as well sadly. its in their nature to do something like that.

No they won't they're all mooth. And as I said on the other thread, the police and security presence in and around Fir Park that day will be at levels never seen before, especially on the back of the Cup Final and of course last year's playoff final and all the hype given the potential for bother from the media, and also given that this falls on Fair weekend so a number of folk will have had a full 24 hours worth of bevvying before this game kicks off so you can bet your last penny that the yellow jackets will be out in force and then some.
