The Ilford Drummer
Must say in my humble opinion the standard of goalkeeper in the top West League this season has never been better. Would have Leishman and Longmuir at the top but very closely behind would be Semple, Hughes,Brown,Grindley and McGarrity in no particular order. Apologies for those not mentioned because I've not seen enough of the others play. Anyone else worthy of a mention? Sometimes a much maligned position so well done all these guys for some top performances.
Troon Portland
Ally Semple has been different class for us this season, some big saves in some very big games. I haven't seen a better keeper than him in the Juniors.
Nugent4nil
I think as a shot stopper Michael White at Arthurlie takes some beating, his save away to Talbot last season was amazing and maybe topped with his double save, the latter from Forsyth, against Troon at Barrhead this year. thecaptain
Longmuir for me! There's a better standard of goalkeeper in the west I think!

Jan Vojáček
Have to say I've been hugely impressed with Jordan Longmuir whenever I've seen him. What age is he? Looks like he could step up to a pretty decent senior level in the not too distant future if he wanted to. Nice to see two ex-Sons in Mikey White and Shay getting a mention on here, both are good 'keepers and if it wasn't for Shay we wouldn't be where we are today. If you can find highlights online anywhere (trust me I've looked for ages!) then his performance away at Arbroath in the playoff semi-final second leg is the best display of goalkeeping I've ever seen. Kept it at 0-0 and we went through 2-1 on aggregate. Edit: Here it is
MrAnoymous
I watch a lot of different games in the west, from the super league down to the district second. I think I would agree with with longmuir leishman in the premier are the best keepers I've watched in the past 15 years. Think you need to mention Mcneil at petershill and the young keeper brown from rob Roy as well. From the super first I think it's the young keeper from the Clydebank and from the central first I think the two stand out keepers from that league are Jonny Grier of Carluke rovers and Kevin McAllister think he's with thorniewood now two exciting prospects from that league. And I think from the central second I would say the young Lanark keeper I watched against gartcairn looks to have some potential as well. Would also put martyn meek in that category can easily win a game when he plays to his potential. Couple of really really good keepers in the juniors. Probably the best standard I've seen in the last 15 years of watching the juniors.
catakoom
Is Martyn Meek the son of or related to Wullie Meek who was also a goalkeeper in the seventies
fan of the juniors
Imo Longmuir is the best in the west but not by much by the rest. Leishman Semple & our own Kieran are top notch . Kieran at 21 will become the best if he stays the next few years

Couldn't agree more with your post both Premier keepers are proving themselves more than capable of holding their own at senior level, as for Grier at Carluke probably the best young keeper and i'd be surprised if he hasn't had a few offers, McNeil is decent and yip the Lanark keeper looked good when i watched him last season...A lot of these lads in my opinion have came to the juniors due to the lack of game time at senior level caused by the horrid U20's development league..which can only benefit the Junior game, hence the best standard for so many years.. Juniorloyal
Hughes has breen great for us this season. Some of his saves have been 1st class and glad to hear he has stayed on for next season. Never realised he's only 21. Its all about him getting game time just now and can see him making the step back up in a few years time.

Kieran at 21 will become the best if he stays the next few years got to agree wae longmuir he had an outstanding game against us in the quarters and both league games...top keeper. leishman is also a top keeper and our own kieran hughes is a good keeper and still a young lad
Juniorfootball123
Such a tough one! Probably in the juniors each keeper has an area of work required (hence why there playing juniors!) For me, Semple, Longmuir then Leishman, I would have Halliwell In there if it was solely based on shot stopping!
superpollok
Another thread where everybody just says their own player Not really as until now no Pollok Supporter had posted and despite this many have said Longmuir. I am not sure who is best in the west as only see the other keepers v Pollok while seeing Longmuir week in week out so not a fair comparison. What I will say is, I am very happy he is Polloks keeper (signed for next season too) and up there with the many very good goal keepers we have had in the past.
