whatasaw
Leith haven't spent big on players this season at all. Does that not make it worse that a club the size of Leith still have no facilities then ?
calmac25
Spartans academy cost £3.3 million and came from years of funding applications, I don't think Spartans put a huge amount of cash in. There's no way that these clubs could buy land and build a ground in the capital without the council putting up the bulk of the cost.

cowdenbeath
Just asking why is it assumed Leith would get the honour of sharing a brand new facility with City above any other Edinburgh team like Hutchy or Tynecastle ? If they already have a tenancy agreement with the Council surely they should get first dabs on the new pitch when built.

Two big clubs use it in Hutchie and Tynie and could surely put the funding together to make that place licensed. Leith seem to have no plan atm. Not suggesting they build a £3.3m stadium but they haven't made any real attempt to do anything. Surely they can't just be waiting on the meadowbank refurbishment? On saughton I agree that those 2 clubs should be able to put in the funds. Facility wise they need to get screening up on the fence and install an enclosure. The money from the Scottish cup the past 2 seasons along with grants should pay for that. I've never noticed a toilet block either so that would be something else. Leith seemed delighted to be able to use the back pitch at meadowbank as their home ground. It would be a massive job to get pitchside changing rooms, toilets, catering facilities and a stand built on a site that should be demolished next year. There are very few other sites for them to consider. There are 10 non league teams in Edinburgh, 7 play on council pitches, 2 uni pitches and the civil service sports ground. None of these teams could do it on their own
Burnie_man
Why would they want to go to such a backwards standard of football? "Backward standard of football"? must have missed Easthouses moving over and Craigroyston following next season, with perhaps more to come. Strange that these clubs see a brighter future in such a black hole of deprivation...

Burnie_man
Or maybe they realise that in the short term, and as things remain as they are, the Juniors offer a better environment to play football?

Burnie_man
Ambition isn't always measured by a desire to play in the LL or League Two, otherwise there's not many clubs with ambition, inc those who have a licence.

HibeeJibee
Excellent spring for HRA... 9 wins, 2 draws and 3 defeats (to LTHV, CSS and Spartans EOS). Not much mention of it but a surprisingly poor season for Duns in the end given they narrowly missed-out on promotion - as it was intended to be - last season. Finished bottom following a late flourish from an Eyemouth side who hadn't registered a point until Easter weekend then notched-up 5 wins, 2 draws and 7 defeats (though they still included scores like 7-1, 2-5, 10-1, 2-6 and 0-7!! Bizarre). Interestingly, of the clubs which would've formed the Premier Division, only the 2 university sides finished outwith top 8.

Duns have played well this season just luck hasn't went our way most of the times. Must congratulate HRA on this seasons turn around. They deserve it and they have certainly shut up a lot of their critics in recent years. Regarding Duns disappointed with the season. Lacked the killer instinct at times. Good players in the squad but its the silly mistakes that cost us and injuries too. Losing Tansey half way through the season was a blow as we didn't have a settled defence though the signing of Kieran Ainslie was a great bit of business. Its hard to attract players when you don't pay but cant use that as an excuse. Anyways NHP is looking good now so its onwards and upwards.
Thewhitepele
Easthouses moved for money and local teams involved. Craigroyston are never going to win eos Local teams??? Our closest game was Tranent who are no longer in the division then every other game other than Dunbar(treks) is either West Lothian or over the bridge...local?
