Guest DAVIDB69
Dumbfounded at the fans being interviewed at the moment. Strachan is the man The squad is at its peak We did really well in the last campaign and we were just unlucky This is a great chance to qualify

Hammer Jag
The qualifying campaign was a disaster and it was all down to Strachan's incompetence. Not that any of this seemed to register with the majority of fans at the last game against Gibralter. Too busy kissing Strachan's arse and singing 'no Scotland, no party' to realise just where we are. The little cretin should have been sacked immediately after the Poland game at Hampden. The World Cup campaign is certain to be another car crash.
1320Lichtie
You, as a Scotland fan, are also one of the Tartan Army. You don't need a glengarry hat to join some elite club. And are you really surprised that they're showing positive interviews?

keptie
Yeah this crop of scottish players is filled with class all over the pitch, should be pissing all over other international teams.didn't really help in the Euro qualifiers Germany lying down to the Irish and it was really one bad game that fucked us up, but we're really not very good,Hutton gets is 50th cap tonight, kinda sums up where we are.At least under Strachan we were attempting to play football,he made a few mistakes but he's been better than most lately

lubo_blaha
To be fair, we managed to avoid defeat the teams that were meant to be our direct opponents; Poland and Ireland. If Germany given 7 points away to these two sides we would be sitting in the play-off position. From there, if we hadn't gifted Poland a last minute goal we'd have qualified automatically, even with a loss against Georgia. A lot of ifs and buts, but(!) there were fine margins that prevented us qualifying last time, so it could probably be at least partly attributed to bad luck. lubo_blaha
Germany didn't give them seven points, those teams took seven points. We didn't. It's a bit of both I would say. Germany are World champions and shouldn't be losing against middle ranked nations such as Poland or Ireland. At the same time, Germany did look complacent for much of the campaign, particularly in games against us, so you could argue that they were there for the taking. Generally though, any points against sides such as Germany are a bonus and it's a fairly unique situation where you direct rivals are able to take that many points from them. craigkillie
The last time we lost to a Pot 2/3/4 level team was almost exactly 3 years ago v Serbia. We are performing very well against teams who are around our level, but haven't been able to pick up too many results v top tier sides (only the 2 wins v Croatia). The success/failure of the last campaign more or less hinged on one single shiter of a performance v Georgia. People are having their perception warped for too much by that one single result. We are a good mid-level European team, but don't quite have the quality to break into the tier above who are regular qualifiers.

I agree to an extent, but it's quite frustrating that NIron, Wales and Iceland have managed to bubble above us (rather stridently) in that category. Equally poland could easily have taken all 6 pts against us....roi could have drawn at celtic park n georgia were also close to a draw here.....we could just as easily been 5th never mind 4th.... itzdrk
I think our decent looking start masked what was a bit of a horror show of qualifiers. The first round of games we got exactly what we were looking for in terms of points in each of the matches. The second round of games we only beat Gibraltar
