The Bogey Team -vs- Stenhousemuir

Recommended Posts

After yesterday's hugely satisfying and well-deserved victory over Airdrieonians, we look forward to another must-win tie against a stuttering Albion Rovers. Anything other than a win is of no use to us at the moment - if we want to challenge for fourth place and keep pace with the Diamonds then this is the kind of game we have to get three points from.

I approach this match with the upmost trepidation: Albion Rovers always beat Stenhousemuir. It doesn't matter what the circumstances are going into the contest, it wouldn't matter if Stenny had won their last 1000 games and the Vers were on a 765-match losing streak, because Albion Rovers always beat Stenhousemuir.

The last meeting between the teams at Ochilview was very frustrating - Rovers scored a goal out of nowhere and seemed content to sit on their lead. Stenny pressed them hard and eventually forced them into conceding a penalty, which Jason Scotland smacked against the post. Had he scored, the Warriors would probably have gone on to the win game, but he didn't, and Rovers held out for three points.

Unless there's suspensions or injuries, there's absolutely no reason to make any changes to the team that beat Airdrie yesterday:

- McMenamin - Scotland -

- Stirling -

- Gilhaney - Millar - Robertson -

- Summers - Murray - Meechan - McCormack -

- McCabe -

The heart says Stenny will win this but the head says it'll finish with an inexplicable win for the home side.

Look just accept the home win from here and it becomes a lot easier.

Big Jason will not know what has hit him when he walks in to the rabbit hutch changing rooms and from that moment on defeat is upon us.

Statistically you have to beat us once in a while I think it might be this weekend

How has the pitch at Cliftonhill been. I intend on going to the game but don't know what the chance of it going ahead is

Not great- always had one or two undulations but used to drain quite well to make up for it. This season it just hasn't coped with heavy rain at all. The forecast is for rain right throughout the night so wouldn't be surprised if there was an early pitch inspection.

Aye just wondered as the rain was pretty bad out Renfrewshire way today

Fact: Andy Barrowman has scored 2/3 of his Rovers goals against Stenhousemuir. This would have been the perfect game for John Gemmell - he always scores against former clubs - but without him Barrowman is our best striker and if fit he should start, with top scorers Love and McBride behind him.

In the Summer a lot of people had both of us down as favourites for relegation. A draw would keep both sides' heads and shoulders above water and neither set of fans could say fairer than that.
