tuckersloan
Great chance for Stranraer to build on recent progress. If we win this I think we can stop fretting about relegation - something I didn't think I would be saying just over a month ago......so yes its been a nice wee turnaround. As for talk of the play offs I suspect we will fall short of that goal and being honest I wouldn't be too gutted at a 5th/6th place finish with the hope that the club can take things a step further next season building a stronger squad of permanent players. The keeper we have on loan has clearly been financed with the ££££ from the Celtic game and its a move that has worked well but such moves are only short term fixes - wasn't Reid's fault that McGurn (another loan signing mind) got injured though. If we were to sneak into fourth and somehow get through the play offs I don't think we would be anywhere near ready to play championship football. Things are a lot better than they were but we are still a team that has lost more games than we have won in League 1 so maybe best we don't get ahead of ourselves. Rumsby being out tomorrow is far from ideal but I think we still have the players in the forward areas to outscore Albion Rovers. What we have now is a threat on the flanks, a slightly fitter Paul Cairney on much better form and strikers who understand each other. A win is far from a certainty but I am hopeful that we can get another home win. It seems to be a more content camp now and the omens are most certainly a whole lot better. Looking forward to the game and fingers crossed another 3 points. A few more wins and its time for those who wanted Reid to be sacked (including myself) to consider whether they were maybe a tad too hasty. 3-2 Stranraer (Longworth, Gibson and a long awaited goal from Cairney)
Albino Rover
Stranraer are one of the fittest teams in part-time football and Rovers had a hard-fought game in midweek. I think our best chance of a result will be to go back to our successful formula from the first half of the season: to take the lead early and see it out. Alan Reid should return to our back four to deal with Willie Gibson. Mark Ferry will have to put in a better shift than last Tuesday if he is to help him out on the right hand side. car number 7
Rovers parked the bus and got the point they wanted,on another day we would have 3 or 4,but fair play to Albion they kept a clean sheet,4th place for Stranraer very possible. Mattmc
Stranraer dominated without doing anything of note in the final third. Malcolm came close with a header first half and Gibson made the keeper work from a free-kick in the second but, that's it. Albion Rovers sat in and hit us on the break a few times, creating the better of the chances. Three excellent opportunities wasted, one a good save from Belford. Didn't work for us upfront today, no real option to change things. Thoughts with David Barron, looks like a sore one.
Bold Rover
Yes, Stranraer ŵere the better team but a gritty defensive performance from us earned us the point. Terrific performance from Ross Stewart in goal. Rovers now safe and can concentrate on challenging for fourth place.
Albino Rover
A good point for the Rovers, earned by a largely excellent defensive performance (although Ricardo Talu was no use up against Willie Gibson.) We had the ball in the back of the net twice but didn't offer enough up front for a team serious about continuing the exceptional form of the first half of 15/16. With a bit of luck Andy Barrowman will return in good form. Top scorers McBride and Love can aim to double their tallies by the end of the season. Stewart, Dunlop and Dunlop were the men of the match, that's their seventh clean sheet of the season.

tuckersloan
although Ricardo Talu was no use up against Willie Gibson I spent a decent amount of the match amazed this guy is a professional footballer - looked absolutely clueless and we should have put him under more pressure. Guy looked slow, his touch was horrid and he appeared to have no positional sense at all. Okay glad I got that off my chest As for the match well it wasn't very good was it? It was the sort of game we would have lost a few months ago so I guess it shows we have made progress. It also showed we are far from the finished article as well. With a couple of good additions, improved morale and a more settled team we ain't going to be relegated. We weren't bad today but lacked a cutting edge. We have the men required to do damage on the flanks now but I still feel we need a box to box centre midfielder and maybe a third option up top. Defensively we were not troubled today by an Albion Rovers outfit who were incredibly defensive. Up against a better team who show more ambition we are still susceptible to being caught out by a bit of pace in forward areas. Bottom line though if one team deserved to win it was Stranraer. A lot more possession although its worth noting our keeper had to act quickly on a couple of occasions. Wasn't the best game I have seen recently but you can't win them all and keeps the unbeaten run going.
Blue1870
Aye not the best but as Tucker says earlier in the season we would have lost that with the sucker punch breakaway. Strikers aren't producing. They work hard but give the ball away. Mind you there wasn't much space due to rovers sitting in.
Vodka Vic
Can an insider advise us: is Alan Reid injured? Hope this isn't the start of moving another member of the old school towards the exit door. Reidy is due and indeed deserves a testimonial season next season.
