Scottish cup underdogs/dark horses to watch for

The original thread on Scottish cup 'Dark horses' topic has been some what lost

It's well Documented and the opinion of the vast majority that Colville are the odds on favourites to Lift this seasons Scottish Amateur Cup...

The Romance and previous history of the cup shows that it's never ever that clear cut! However being undefeated this season are looking a formidable side.

But

Who is flying under the Radar? A Dark horse outwith usual favourites for the latter stages?

Who do you fancy making the 4 semi final places?

Did your team go out in a previous round? Were your opponents impressive? Were there any standout performers in their side?

Here's who's left

There's definitely potential for some mouthwatering ties in there, pending how the draw and results go. Colville appear to be the majority favourites but you never know come game day. Would be nice to see an underdog go far as it adds to the romance of the Scottish Cup.

Kaboom : absolutely Goldenhill were almost that underdog on Saturday.

People had written them off before a ball was even kicked.

On another day ? Had the keeper been sent off ? Perhaps Goldenhill may have seen the game out, All hypothetical of course.

There are a lot of sides on par or perhaps better than Goldenhill left in this competition who probably don't need the motivation, drive or heart out of that such close contest to go out there and perform.

Everyone loves an underdog.

Anybody can win it from here. And I literally mean anybody with a little bit of luck of the draw.

On paper Colville are rightly favourties but after Wishaw winning it against the Colville of that time (Drum Utd) a few years ago it would be stupid to write any team off.

Luck of the draw and bottle/a bit of luck on the day has as much to do with ability at this stage.

Some cracking games with prob EK v Colvile, the pick of the games, but I think Shortlees v Pennies will be a cracking game. Both unbeaten in their respective leagues. Hard to call, I think this tie will go all the way, obviously I want the Lee's to win.

Can't wait for this one, I hope the best team wins on the day, as that doesn't always happen, like with Shortlees v Gartcosh in last years last 16 clash, where I thought Shortlees deserved to win. No doubt Gartcosh will disagree, as they quite rightly, are entitled too. That's what makes the Ammies great, you just never know what is going to happen. Can't wait for this one. Mon the Lee's.

Personally I hope Den Vale keep their run going - purely for a selfish pint of view as I play in the SSMFL.

We played Shortless esrlier this season (can't mind if in the West or Scottish though) and although it was 2-2 with 15 left they gave us a doing and passed us off the park. Good side. Would like to see them go far cos they skelped us. Can't really see past Colvilles though

Here is the full draw.

Bo'ness Cadora AFC (S&DAFA) or St. Mungos AFC (Cale) Vs Duncanrig AFC (SAFL) or Shotts Victoria AFC (LEAFA)

Doune Castle AFC (Cale) Vs Bearsden AFC (Cale)

East Kilbride AFC (SAFL) Vs Colville Park AFC (CSAFL)

East Kilbride YM AFC (Cale) Vs Kilsyth AFC (CSAFL) or Danderhall Miners AFC (LEAFA)

Eastfield AFC (CSAFL) Vs Ashvale Victoria AFC (CSAFL)

Harestanes AFC (CSAFL) or Polmont Community AFC (S&DAFA) Vs Riverside Athletic AFC (MAFA) or Auchterarder Primrose AFC (PAFA)

Letham AFC (PAFA) Vs St. Patricks FPs AFC (CSAFL)

Leven United AFC (KCAFL) Vs Giffnock North AAC AFC (Cale)

Linlithgow Thistle AFC (LEAFA) Vs Dirrans Athletic AFC (Ayr) or BSC Jordanhill AFC (GGPL)

Maryhill Thistle AFC (GCAFA) Vs Rutherglen AFC (SAFL) or Drumchapel AFC (CSAFL)

Shortlees AFC (Ayr) Vs Pennies AFC (S&DAFA)

Stenhousemuir Community AFC (S&DAFA) Vs Menzieshill Rovers AFC (MAFA)

Stirling City AFC (CSAFL) Vs Oban Saints AFC (SAFL)

Predictions to make the last 16?

St Mungo

Doune Castle

Colville Park

EKYM

Eastfield

Harestanes

St Pats

Giffnock North

Linlithgow Thistle

Maryhill Thistle (A possible scalp here I reckon as Drum Ams aren't the side of previous years imo)

Milngavie Wanderers

Haldane (I think this is honestly the hardest one to pick and any one of the three sides progressing here would not be a surprise)

Possil - couldn't have picked a better draw

Shortlees

Stenhousemuir

Stirling City

Shortlees would be favourties I would say, yes.

St Pats just seem to be a good cup team. I don't think the standard of the Perth league is up to much but with it being up there (likely on a coo field) then it wouldn't be a total surprise to see St Pats go out but I am going to plump for them just based on their experience.
