Mob rule stops the game being played at the proper home ground and BBC Glasgow continue to fund sectarianism and stick two fingers up to the rest of the clubs by broadcasting Celtic's public training session live. It all sums up Scottish football quite well.

Have you anymore amazing stories like that?

That the BBC funds sectarianism by showing the biggest club in Scotland on TV where they'll get the most viewers which is exactly what their business model revolves around, as if thats a get it up you to Scottish football.

Right up there with piracy funds terrorism scaremongering.

the funny thing is that in the lead up to this "training session" it's going to be the junior club that get 99% of the press, and their 5 minutes of fame, so if thats what sums up scottish football then good on Scottish football and the BBC.

The exact same thing happens in the FA Cup too when a huge team draws a non league/lower league team away from home, but i'm guessing that the English FA and the English BBC aren't involved in some sort of religious conspiracy down there either.

Give me that over Dundee Utd vs Partick Thistle or Motherwell vs Inverness any day.

I suggest you do some proper research on the BBC and why we are forced to pay for it as you obviously don't have a clue.

See, this is why i need the BBC to show the game so i will find this out! I have now learned my very first fact about East Kilbride FC.

East Kilbride has a Junior team, EK Thistle, who were very successful in the 70s/80s. They could have been EKFC as the guys who formed them afaik were involved there (Iain King etc) briefly. As it turned out, that didn't work out and a few boys clubs instead came together 5/6 years ago to become EKFC. They played adult amateur briefly, applied to the South of Scotland League and got accepted, but the Lowland League was formed that summer and they went straight into it.

They currently have a first team and U20s, as well as an adult amateur team which as far as I can gather is completely separate in terms of personnel etc. And also youth sides.

Playing squad: mostly guys in their 20s with some having SPFL experience at either first team or U20 level. Only a handful of 1st teamers seem to have a pure amateur background.

BBC Scotland does not operate with a 'business model' - it is a public service broadcaster. Its revenue stream is entirely unaffected by which Scottish Cup tie that they choose to broadcast, so it simply cannot be a decision framed by a 'business model', by any definition of the term. The sole question that the BBC must answer when commissioning live coverage is whether it fits their remit of public service broadcasting. TV audience is one criteria by which to measure this, but far from the only one. Which is why BBC England in fact chooses to televise a score of non-league v pub league sides in the Second and Third Rounds of the FA Cup - when televising all League One or all Championship ties would almost certainly attract a larger audience.

The BBC's pick policy in England isn't too different to in Scotland. If the FA Cup threw up a tie with a similar gap in level as EK v Celtic (something like second tier non-league at home to Man Utd) they'd show it in a heartbeat.

In the first and second rounds they generally go for the tie that balances upset potential with a "big" (relative to the other teams in the draw) name away from home.

Most ridiculous pick this season was TheRangers vs Cowdenbeath at Ibrox. Utterly pointless and a predictable drubbing. Ok it was Sky but they have their heads firmly jammed up both of the Ugly Sisters' behinds.

Not really and it's quite simple to understand.

The old firm have more fans than other clubs therefore a far larger potential TV audience. Sky sell advertising, the bigger the TV audience the more they make on advertising. They also sell subscriptions and there are more old firm fans across Britain to sell subscriptions to than other Scottish fans.

It therefore makes perfect sense that Sky will want an old firm game regardless of the opposition and its fucking stupid to think otherwise.

Sky showing either of the old firm is therefore far from pointless.

They don't care what scottish non old firm fans think is an interesting game as outside of Scotland no-one will give a f**k about it so there's no money in it for Sky.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say Celtic v Cowdenbeath would not have been shown had the balls come out that way.

It's also only since Rangers (RIP) went bust that broadcasters started showing games from Ibrox, regardless of the visitors. Possibly to do with fewer opportunities to show the home team live (Sky only have five Sevco league games per season).

Yep, which from a commercial broadcaster is fair enough really. We all know however, that had by some miraculous reason Sky hadn't lifted the Sevco game for either of their picks, the BBC would have been all over it with the dignity of a tramp for theirs.

BBC have second pick and took Hearts v Aberdeen.

Stranraer v Celtic was first pick.

EK don't seem to be overly happy that the SFA have announced this will be at New Douglas Park, they've not yet made any mention of the game being played there and seem to be canvassing interest right now to gauge what sort of venue to play it in. Hope this doesn't get too messy between the club and the association, presumably there would have been preliminary discussions with EK and LTHV before the tie was played and they must have given some indication that Hamilton was acceptable..

Not entirely correct EK since joining the LL have always stated they don't pay a penny to players.

Aye right :D
