Ok. We've done this before.

Queens' next two games are at Dumbarton. The first is a Cup tie; the second a league game.

Fans of both sides are allowed to choose one win and one defeat over the two games. The choice of order for these two outcomes is down to the fan.

I don't want to hear mealy mouthed bleating about 'can't we win both?', for the answer is no. You may have one win and one defeat.

I'll start by choosing a Cup victory and no points from the League game.

Interesting. Thank you for playing and for displaying such regard for the rules.May I ask for the reasoning behind your choice?

Avoiding the bottom 2 spots in the League is the aim.

Would also like us to record a rare League win v Queens, for a change.

In fact, I'm going to soil things & say I want us to win both matches. ????

I think we seem to be settling on a pattern of Queens wanting the cup win, and us taking the league points.

That'll do for me, can we just not play the 2 games and settle up that way?

That does indeed seem to be the pattern.

Don't dare ask me again to revise the rules though. They are non negotiable.

Gratified to see that the Cup runneth over for most Queens fans at least. The picture was less clear cut when we faced a similar double header against Hamilton a couple of seasons ago.

There is a direct relevance though to how important the League points are. The Hamilton double header was in McIntyre's season and in the first week of November when many were concerned about the possibility of relegation and looking over our shoulders. Some possibly even harboured ambitions of promotion in what was a fairly open division before the Rangers / Hearts / Hibs arrival and saw it as three crucial points.

I doubt anyone is too concerned about the points right this second. We're not going down and whilst we may yet get 4th (whatever Northfield thinks) actually getting promotion this season is pretty unlikely as it will require us to win three playoff ties against bigger sides. With that in mind the distraction of a cup run appeals a lot more. We missed a great chance to get to Hampden last season, losing in the wind at home to Falkirk who went on to reach the final and nearly win it. It's not a massive pipe dream to suggest with a bit of luck we could get there again. Plus from my point of view the attraction of unbudgeted income is significant.

It's entirely understandable that Dumbarton fans are more concerned at this point with keeping themselves away from the bottom spots and more of them would be attracted by the three points.
