Patches O'Houlihan
Just saw the pictures of the flooded ground on Twitter. Really feel sorry for them, good club with good people running it. I hope 2016 is kinder to us all on the weather front.

Patches O'Houlihan
Dramatic but unfortunate images: Also Peebles: (last month) Hawick last month: Some truly soul destroying images there. The work that goes into keeping clubs going is immense, and for this to happen must be incredibly disheartening for all involved.
Stu
The only positive for Threave is it looks like the end with the clubhouse etc got the least of the flooding so hopefully hasn't been damaged too much. However, there's a sewage works just outside the ground and if that's mixed with the flood water it's not going to be very pleasant!
HibeeJibee
According to their website: "the board and volunteers battled the elements throughout the night until the early hours of the morning and saved the club house from any flooding" and indeed a New Year's Day function was tweeted as going ahead today... However the stand and various sheds and so on will clearly be soaked and filthy. D&G News suggests it won't be possible to answer the sewage question until the waters recede. Hawick RA has flooded a few times in the last decade but this seems a bad one; they have to date raised £625 of a £1,000 crowdfunding repair target. Peebles floods frequently. Clubhouse is on higher ground - there is nothing under the stand - but some water even reached it at the start of the month. In England a grant scheme of £750k - mainly funded by FA and EPL - has been put together, to be distributed via 6 county FAs to affected clubs. An equivalent fund of only £75k would make a huge difference to clubs here but I wouldn't hold my breath for it. From an historical perspective it's always going to be a risk at some clubs as cheap flat land on the edge of towns in Victorian times and after the wars was on riversides... I don't know Castle Douglas well enough but that's the case at the public park in Peebles and all the grounds in Hawick.

bpek
Your can't get rid of a football team just because they sit bottom of a league especially when there's still half the season to go
surely not!
Your can't get rid of a football team just because they sit bottom of a league especially when there's still half the season to go You're right. And wrong. You can get rid of them if they're bottom at the end though and they are too far adrift IMO to not finish bottom. Long term though they are struggling to raise the qulaity as the league positions of the first few seasons shows.
bpek
You are right and wrong the way he was talking was just kick them out now well that's just daft and yes they will probably finish bottom but with half the season left to play they should be given the chance to get out of the bottom place just like any other teams in any other league
theref
Threave have a nice set up and meet the critea but until relegation comes in with promotion then teams like Threave will just prop up the LL league and for whats its worth bpek they have np chance of not finishing bottom although preston are sinking as well
bpek
So they have no chance of not finishing bottom but Preston are sinking as well they can't both finish bottom
