Looks like an excellent event at Netherdale on Saturday. From the GFR facebook page.

' Stramash at Netherdale'

We are looking forward to our Book Week Event this Saturday (28th November) with football & travel author Daniel Gray at Netherdale.

Please note that our scheduled fixture against Vale of Leithen in the Lowland League has been postponed due to the Vale’s participation in the South Cup.

However, don’t despair…whilst Gala Fairydean Rovers won’t be in action there is still football to view on Saturday at Netherdale

We now welcome Vale of Leithen and Tynecastle to Netherdale on Saturday for their Cup Tie with a slightly earlier than advertised kick off time of 2pm.

As a result the ' Stramash' event will be brought forward to a 1pm start. The event will take place within the Hospitality cabin at the South end of our next door neighbours, Gala Rugby Club’s ground. We would like to thank Gala Rugby Club for their assistance in organising the event.

Complimentary refreshments and books are being provided thanks to support from Scottish Book Week and the charity Nil by Mouth.

Daniel will read from his football and travel writing including his recent Saltire Award Nominated ' This is Scotland' which features chapters on Galashiels and the Borderlands.

Daniel will be staying on to enjoy the game afterwards and we have 15 copies of his cult Scottish football travelogue ' Stramash ' to give away as prizes in a free draw.

So for football, travel, writers and even free pies there's only one place to be this Saturday.

Entry to the book event is free whilst normal entry charges to the South Cup game apply. Please note that Gala Fairydean Rovers Premier Club Cards are not valid for this game.

I was going to cheekily ask if folk fae Innerleithen can actually read and then I remembered the pre-match highlight of trips down there is rummaging through the second hand bookshop in the High Street!

Hopefully there's a good turn out. I wonder if the Vale manager will ever write an autobiography, it would be worth a read...!
