B teams

Recommended Posts

Putting this in here seeing as I imagine it would affect the bottom 2 leagues the most....

Deila today suggesting B teams playing in the lower leagues would be a good thing for Scottish football....

http://m.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/34881803

Personally can't think of anything worse? Totally devalues the competition and all the part time/lower full time senior sides. Why can't they just set up a full time reserve league???

What's the consensus on here?

Personally, I'm thinking, Deila can go and take a flying f**k to himself. Awful idea and I'd be appalled if this was to happen.

He didn't say that though.

He's saying it would be good for Celtic. Hardly a surprise considering he is Celtic manager

Firstly, I don't see how playing full timers against part-timers on a weekly basis would develop players. Secondly, the lower leagues would become a devalued farce if this was ever allowed to happen. What would be the point in turning up to games knowing that a few of the teams and their fans didn't give the remotest f**k about winning the title? It would completely dilute the competition and chase even more fans away from the game. An absolute nonsense idea on so many different levels.

How can you say he's not talking about Scottish football as a whole after reading that?!

'Debate has followed Scotland's failure to reach another major tournament.

Deila stressed he did not have all the answers but felt the introduction of 'colt' teams might help.'

...???

Is that a quote from him?

Regardless of if he said it or not, it's a disgraceful idea dripping in arrogance and an undeserved sense of privilege. It would benefit, in the short term, just one or two teams (guess who) to the detriment of the rest of the game. In the long term it would be detrimental to them as well.

No one except some Celtic and Sevco fans and an array of sycophants wants it.

Is this another debate where you're going to make a c**t of it? He's clearly been brought into the debate and this has been his answer...

"I have seen that in Spain, how they develop players, they have done it for many years and now in Norway, it is very good," said Deila.

"You play games that are important. Of course that is a big change, but you look around in Europe and see what's happening, there are a lot of positive things going."

Of course, he's not implying to Scotland on the whole at all, and just Celtic.

He's talking about Celtic, even citing examples of players we have out on loan in the lower leagues gaining experience

"We want to bring players in to train with the first team when they are 16 or 17 years old, like Kieran Tierney and Aidan Nesbitt, and we do that.

"When they get to the age of 19 or 20 I think playing in the U20s team is too easy for them and also it is a big gap between playing for the U20s and playing at Celtic Park and playing for Celtic."So we have to find something in between which is why we put players like Liam Henderson out on loan (at Hibs) so he can be important in a team which fights every week for points and it really matters what he does on the pitch.

It would benefit Celtic with the development of our young players. Nobody else

Yes, he brings the discussion to Celtic, but he's clearly been asked about Scotland. You're just getting all angry and defensive again. Take a breath and step back. Would do you some good.

It's obviously not a quote, I'm not sure why this matters, because it was what was being discussed in the interview. How Scottish football and the national team can improve, not how Celtic can improve.

Because you quoted it......

He wants it as it would benefit Celtic, and being the Celtic manager it's hardly a shock for him to want to see something that would benefit the club.

Its really not that hard to understand.

Again, remind why why at a Celtic press conference would they be discussing the Scottish national team with a manager who isn't even Scottish?

Yes, I quoted it because it was from the article.

As for your last part why wouldn't they ask him?

They're asking how the national team can improve and he's giving an example of how he thinks it would be a good idea to bridge the gap from the youths to the first team.

You're being absolutely ridiculous, again.

Did any of you even bother to watch the press conference?

So it wasn't a quote from him. Glad you've cleared that up.

He was talking about Celtic, Why are you finding that concept so difficult to understand? Seethe away at the idea of a Celtic B team in the lower leagues by all means, but lets not just make things up.

Watch the first 17 seconds of this you rocket.

The question was about Scottish football.
