Elgin city vs east fif

Recommended Posts

with saturday's game with shire ending in a high scoring eight goal scoreline. however our defence have leaked goals of late and in danger of losing the best defensive record if we cut out losing goals from headers in our own box, elgin are a form team likewise annan have a decent squad put together which should make them be in the mix for the play-offs this time round i am going for a 4-3 win. Fash with a double, slattery and page with elgin scores gunn, cameron and easton.

if i was picking the side...Goodfellow - back three of Kerr, Page, Campbell with wing backs of Mercer and Naysmith. Midfield - Leyden or Muzzy, Slattery and MacDonald with Wilkie playing off Fash as the lone striker. Therefore we could change a defender for a midfielder plan b at any time and revert to a 4-5-1 in naysmith/anderson tactics they apply on a weekly basis again as Insall is suspended, smith still sidelined of injury, Macgregor is trying to get game time in east of scotland league at his new employers short term and walker just no sign of him included as part of the subs even on saturday there i doubt he'll be back this week.

all in all should be enjoyable game and i hope we build from saturday there, claim another three points away to a side like ourself to remain high in the position of the league table. Its that close as both side's are fairly match and deserve where they are, let the battle begin.

East fife easily the best side to visit us this season. Elgin scored after 30 seconds and again 3 minutes later. That would have knocked the stuffing out of most teams, but EF came back at us and by half Time it was 2-2 with Elgin the happy to hear the whistle. Second half had EF Mostly on top, but Elgin went back in front after a mistake from the EF keeper let Mchardy knock the ball in for 3-2. Thereafter, EF pummled our goal, with several very near misses an great saves. In between times, Elgin broke up field and Marc Mckenzie blasted a shot against the bar. In to injury time and we went 4-2 with Danny Moore scoring a great goal from a free kick. We rode our luck a wee bit but the guys dug in to keep the unbeaten home run going. Great entertainment from 2 attack minded teams....wish we could defend better though!

This was always going to be a big ask for East Fife with Stevie Campbell, Pat Slattery and Ross Brown injured and the lad Insall suspended. Our defence was water tight until last 2 games losing 7 goals in the process. Two hard games coming up against Queens Park and Clyde hope the 2 week break allows the lads injuries to clear up. This will give Gary time to work on our defensive frailties.

Great highlights from what looked like an enjoyable game of football. The defending for Elgin's 1st goal was absolutely diabolical. However, we did well to bring it back to 2-2 before HT. Looked as though we created enough chances to equalise in the 2nd half but it wasn't to be. Naysmith will have to work on the defensive issues we're having just now.
