Ross County vs Celtic - League Cup Semi Final

After yesterday's abomination (for both football and non-football reasons), I'm obviously delighted* that Ross County have drawn Celtic in the League Cup semi final. I'm also delighted** that the match will inevitably be at Hampden, probably at lunchtime on the Sunday, and probably be a bit of an anti-climax.

That said, we do have a 100% success rate against Celtic in major cup semi finals, so you never know. But all things considered, I'd have rather faced Hibs at Tynecastle.

I imagine the Celtic fans are probably fairly pleased to have drawn us, but that it was largely academic and not many of them will bother turning up anyway.

Everyone else as delighted as me?

* Not really delighted.

** Again, not really delighted.

Hibernian win the semi the previous day - County win, we lose the final.

St Fermers win - Celtic win and win the cup under a new manager, probably David Moyes after being knocked out the Scottisb Cup.

Hibs v St J at a packed Tynecastle would be a much more interesting watch and also a lunchtime sunday k.o would make it a nightmare for RC fans travelling down

How would it be a "nightmare" for County fans travelling if our game was on the Sunday?

Pretty sure he's talking about how it would be a nightmare for Ross County fans if their game was a Sunday lunchtime kick off.

Travelling to Hampden is a nightmare at the best of times. And I only live in Edinburgh! Sunday lunchtime would be especially rubbish for those coming down from the Highlands.

In other news, there's a suggestion that Celtic fans could boycott the game in possible protest over Rangers - http://www.celticquicknews.co.uk/celtic-support-could-boycott-cup-semi-v-ross-county/

If not then they could be faced with a national semi final with only a few hundred Ross County fans making their way down from Dingwall. Even they might decide that a boycott would be well worth supporting for the good of the game.

I liked this bit. The "few hundred" Ross County fans will attend regardless, and will number substantially more than that. I think I can speak on behalf of my fellow Staggies in saying we won't be boycotting our second ever major cup semi final in support of "the good of the game".

But if Celtic fans do make good on the threat (which they won't, unless it's by default, but because of apathy not outrage), could we move the match to somewhere decent? Please?

Aye, the SPFL should be proactive in view of a bhoycott and hold the tie in Inverness.

Mon the Staggies!

I said "somewhere decent", but in the circumstances I'll relent and allow Inverness as a suitable neutral venue.

Absolutely! I hope they do boycott it and you pump them in a cauldron of a Highland Hate!! Celtic fans are telling everyone what's right for 'the good of the game'. .!!?! :D

What patronising, sanctimonious shite.

We'll bring more than a few hundred to a national cup semi-final, as previously.

Boycotting your own team in a mostly unrelated game in a bid to further punish your rivals is mental. I'd quite happily see Rangers stripped of the titles, especially given the precedents set everywhere else, but I don't care anywhere near enough to consider boycotting my team to make that point.

I also don't care enough to think it a cause worth pushing as "for the good of our game".

Hopefully Celtic fans do boycott it though (well, the raj element), can only help us, and will make the experience in and around the stadium a whole lot nicer for us.

Fewer t.i.m.s = less chance of getting gobbed on if you win
