Stranraer vs Dunfermline Athletic- Saturday 17th October (17:15)

Recommended Posts

Watford vs Arsenal? Roma vs Empoli? Eibar vs Sevilla? Don't even suggest South Africa vs Wales at the hand-egg. No chance, BBC ALBA is the place to be on Saturday evening.

We need to bounce back from a truly awful display at St Mirren in the Challenge Cup last week. That performance pissed me off big time and I have no doubt we'll lose again if we play anything like that this weekend.

Can't imagine Wallace can possibly start again and you'd have to have doubts over Rooney over Geggan at right back, although I expect AJ to give him a bit more time. McCabe should come back into the middle of the park, Faissal has to be a doubt after coming off in Paisley as well.

No doubt Dunfermline are favourites for this, but Mr Reid now seems to know his best team and after our recent away victories to Forfar and Airdrie confidence seems high in the camp.Watched the highlights of pars at Paisley they will want to bounce back from that, interesting game.

Yeah, I think we'll lose. Stranraer have improved after their poor start, while we are showing signs of returning to the abysmal team we were last season. Obviously injuries have stretched us big time but we weren't great against Airdrie, poor against Albion Rovers and fucking dreadful against St.Mirren. If it wasn't for the injuries I would suggest that Wallace should be left out of the squad completely.

I enjoyed Hopkirk's post-match comments after St Mirren. Basically the starting XI haven't been good for weeks and it's time for him to get a shot, although not obviously as blatantly as that.

The players all talk about how good the team spirit is at the club but I'm ready for them to get ugly and grind out a few good results & performances. A pishy display and a loss on Saturday will get everyone thinking we're back to last season's shite.

This will test the team's character IMO. Fans starting to get impatient and a tough fixture against an improved Stranraer side. A win here would boost confidence on and off the park. I'll go for a tight 1-0 win for the pars.

That would do me nicely. Not convinced we could hope for much more right now.

If fit, get MAC and Moffat to start up front. Hopkirk in might be a shout.

We definitely need to win this one. Long ball pish has to stop.

What's the deal with Falkingham? Still injured? What's with all the injuries anyway? If we were near the bottom of the league the usual reactionary morons would be questioning the coaching and fitness of the team.

Hope the recent shiteness is just a blip. Might be good to calm the arseholes in our support who were getting massively carried away.

Would like to see MAC and Hopkirk start up front. Regardless of our lineup, I don't think I've ever been confident about an away trip to Stranraer.

Stranraer a few key injuries as well, won't be a walk in the park.

Forgot that Hopkirk can also play up front seeing as we usually play him out wide. Gives another option.

Hopefully in training the team have been working on passing and movement to hammer out this long ball bollocks. In previous games Geggan has often come short for the ball and helped begin moves, so if he is the midfield I'd like to see that. However as someone else said, Geggan might be used as right back leaving McCabe and Byrne in central midfield. Byrne could the one to drop short to ensure there are no aimless long punts and start some passing.

Can't see Cardle being dropped. He's second top scorer and there is always a chance he can pull off something special.

I wouldn't drop Cardle for that latter reason. It's been mentioned in another thread that no matter how pish we/he are/is playing, he always seems to have that capability to pull off a piece of magic.

Several issues need sorted IMO.

BRE - the guy is a liability if left to his own devices. McAusland needs to get him told not to mess about. Also he wins every header but mostly just heads it anywhere.

Fullbacks - need to get Rooney fit before judging. Thought Martin looked good in both positions. Still not settled yet.

Midfield - apart from Geggan where is the dig needed to battle through games? Plenty skill and talent but no protection. This might sound daft but I noticed when Wallace was dropping deep he was winning every single tackle. Worth considering him in midfield for tougher games? Seriously watch out for him at games, he wins every ball.

Strikers - who is our best two? MAC needs more game time, Moffat has completely lost his confidence in front of goal yet does so much good work apart from that, Wallace has suddenly gone terrible for some reason, Fais our best striker but out for a couple of weeks?

MAC and Hopkirk might work?

Would freshen things up a bit for this. We've not been convincing for a while now.

Murdoch

Talbot

BRE

McAusland

Rooney

Cardle

Geggan

McCabe

Paton

Moffat

MAC

Not confident tbh. Would take any sort of victory in this.
