Euzi
Its the same as the west giving the option to play at sept weekend
.Stuart.
Clubs have no right to moan about fixture congestion at the end of the season when most go a perfectly good Saturday without a game. Pile of pish.
Ayr Victoria
It's the bloody races Gold Cup weekend. Lots of players that play junior football like to go and have a good day out at the annual race meeting in Ayr. It's hardly a big deal, I'm glad the West SJFA give the teams the option. Hertha/BJFC1938
Clubs have no right to moan about fixture congestion at the end of the season when most go a perfectly good Saturday without a game. Pile of pish. Totally agree with this . Semi professional football and the Blackpool illuminations are taking priority here and it's not the fault of the SJFA at all. What's the races gold cup got to do with anything lol? I don't see a mad scramble of junior players ditching the boots only because a daft horse racing meeting is on

I don't see a mad scramble of junior players ditching the boots only because a daft horse racing meeting is on Majority of clubs in and around Ayr have players who like to go to the races Gold Cup meeting September weekend. Hence why only 4 of them are playing next weekend sir. How many Ayrshire clubs are there in the west again?
Nocko
Totally agree waste of a Saturday having a free week. Holiday weekends are when derbys should be played not games cancelled. And yeah I do realise our derby fixture is probably Maybole this season.
Troon Portland
I'd love to see football played every week of the year (can never get too much football in my opinion!) but practicalities dictate that it isn't sensible to play on weekends such as these. Not only can some players be away but fans too, and when we have played on dates like this in the past our gates have been down significantly. As frustrating as it may be, it makes sense to be off & have a full strength team AND support at other times. www.troonfc.com/
happy
some Ayrshire employers choose to have their long weekend on gold cup weekend.its pencilled in the year before until confirmed.i think the council do this.so if the refs are on holiday there will have to be fewer games. james.
Pretty poor decision the players are contracted to a 40 week contract and must make themselves available for two training night and a Saturday match day so having holidays when Blackpool or horse racing is on is a disgrace
Kochice
It's ridiculous losing fixtures for a local holiday, as posted earlier it would be the perfect opportunity to play some local derbies to get some money in. Further the Gold Cup meeting at Ayr is spread over three days so plenty of time for folk to get to racing and football.
glensmad
There doesn't appear to be any fixtures at all on 26th September. Or at least nobody's been told of any yet....

No sign of anything yet. That weekend's the Glasgow holiday weekend, so it'll be interesting to see if the same thing happens! We've requested a fixture for that weekend obviously, but no sign of one yet.
