Nugent4nil Posted September 13, 2015 Share Posted September 13, 2015 Next Sunday, the 20th will see the 8th or possibly the 9th charity event contesting the Eric Hickey Sheild Last year we tried a round robin event that seemed to go on too long so we have tweaked things again. On Sunday at the Brig O'Lea the details are as follows, 1pm Neilston v Pollok 2:15 Arthurlie v Arden Villa Veterans After the second semifinal there will be a short seven a side match between the Neilston Wasps sides then the final. After the game it's the Crofthead Bowling Club for raffles and the like. Entry is £5 for adults, £2 for seniors and kids above 10, under tens go free. The Neilston squad includes among others, current manager Andy Whiteford, Brian Hewitt, Dennis Connaghan, Gary Sturrock etc While Pollok have the likes of Ian Wilson, Steven and Kevin O’Neil, Bryan Dingwall, and moreArthurlie have the likes of Steven Convery, Lee Sharp, Alan Waddell to name a few while Arden have Jose Quitongo in their ranks. There will also be a few gust players on show including current Rob Roy manager Stuart Maxwell and Auckinleck legend Steve Mallan. This year’s charities are Bliss, a charity that helps premature babies, The Yorkhill Foundation, and The Neilston War memorial fund. The good news is that its NOT an all ticket event so you can pay at the gate, adults £5 with seniors and kids from 10 £2 under tens go free. Arthurlie 4 Arden Villa 1 Arthurlie beat Neilston 3-0 in the final. Great day and great seeing the old legends on the pitch followed by the Neilston Wasps, the players of tomorrow.
