The Evening Times and it's Junior coverage.

6 days at week it gives coverage to the Juniors.

Great, brilliant, etc.

Thing is, does anybody in Ayrshire buy the Evening Times?

What's the point of giving write ups to teams 40 miles away other than when their maybe playing a club in the Glasgow area.

Going by sales it completely misses the point.

No harm to the Bot or Cumnock but Evening Times sales stop at around 10 miles from the city centre.

So why bother plugging Junior football in Ayrshire for all it's worth.

Btw, this is from a paper that didn't mention the Hearts v Hibs Scottish Cup Final on the Friday night before the game coz........

Great Junior section but remember your readership is not in Ayrshire.

I buy the Evening Times and the Juniors section is the first thing I read. I think Jim O'Donnell gives a very good and fair view on the game.

Instead of remarking why they do a spread you should be asking why the record gives poor coverage to the game.

Glass is always half empty with some folk.

Out of interest, why do you buy it.

They sell it here in Kilbirnie 20 miles away

Personally a don't buy any newspapers but thought ad blow your theory out the window anyways

Ps Jim Odonnell knows as much about junior fitba as a Papua New Guinea pig farmer

I don't read the paper often, only the odd article pasted here, but I think that last statement is very unfair. The guy played and managed in Junior football for years and has been writing about it for years now too. Of course he knows the grade.

Have you read half of his reports ?

Maybe it's bad editing at head office

He gets all his info from the clubs as he can only find his way to the bridge just past Shawlands

No, I haven't read a lot of them, but the ones I have read are articulate and well compiled. My only complaint is that he quotes the players and bosses as if they are wordsmiths. The guy is covering the grade well though.

No worries bud

We will agree to disagree

As has been said it & other blow rags like the record out the water & the more press for our grade the better

Jim O,Donnell is a trumpet. For someone who knows our game so well, he is constantly getting it wrong. He reports on games he has never been near . Incidentally if the Times were to stop reporting on the Ayrshire teams it could change the name of the Junior section to the mostly about Pollok Juniors section.

I've bought it each day and every day for the last twenty years.

It does contain good junior coverage but the wordage can be a bit flowery at times to say the least .

I sneak a read at the Junior section when in supermarket because I'm too miserable to buy it just for one section.

That's true - I know enough of the managers he interviews to be sure they didn't use anything like the words in quote marks in the Times - nobody talks that way.

My brother emailed him after one of our games when the report bore little resemblance to what we thought we had watched, to be fair to Jim he sent him back the full report that he submitted, which was a much better reflection of the game. It had been absolutely butchered by a sub editor to fit the allotted space in that night's edition.

Don't know how often you've read it lately but he missed the Lie v Lok derby last Saturday to take in Shettleston v Meadow.

Yip Jim has told me that also after I slaughtered him for an inaccurate article!

The paper is now available to any junior fan all over the world as its online now so should cover all West games .... And its free to read!

That's a good point. No such thing as a local paper now.
