Homer Thompson
The first "feature" on that list could not be of any less interest to me. Doesnt bode well
Whitnail
The first "feature" on that list could not be of any less interest to me. Doesnt bode well Correct. Most of them seem a bit gimmicky and rubbish. But so what? They're been like this for years, the last truly revolutionary update was the match engine. Team talks were a good innovation too. Everything else is usually tweaking for the sake of it. I'll be buying, and I'm certain I'll get my moneys worth out of it. Design your own manager will fall the way of in game press conferences. Set pieces really need work, in FM 2015 match training is absolutely crucial but to avoid "falling apart at set pieces" every second match I need to have defending set pieces as the option. A more balanced split of 1/3 to 1/4 before it becomes a problem will be good. The good old days were when Tim Bakens challenge goalkeeper brought in 12 goals a season. Id rather they spent time improving parts of the game that actually matter, rather than wasting time on gimmicky rubbish. I'd actually rather FM moved to a subscription based model, the way Microsoft and Adobe have done, where there are no "major" updates, just continual improvements released to everyone as long as you continue to subscribe. I doubt it would make sense for SI financially but it would mean a better game.

I doubt it would make sense for SI financially but it would mean a better game. I've been saying this for years. Don't think I've played an FM since 2012 - they're just too buggy. In their hurry to add more and more pointless features into each incarnation they fail to fix the numerous bugs that can render it unplayable. I doubt it would make sense for SI financially but it would mean a better game. It will be like Apple, they'll understand most of the features well in advance and will likely be plotting it until FM 2019/2020. They need to stagger the innovation because there isn't many places they can go with the format - next year or so they might just re-invent the attribute system or something. If you have particular aspects of the game you'd like to improve you can list them here (and send to SI). I'm sure they'd actually be grateful for the feedback as they'll be scratching their heads for how to improve it. I don't see to be that aware of these apparently obvious bugs. In fact, by far the most annoying inclusion this year was when you go on holiday you dismiss all player interactions (rather than delaying them as in the past). Therefore if you take 10 days during international break you can return to see a key player wants to leave and the whole squad is pressuring you to sell him. You either don't go on holiday given this, or have to save the game before you do. And yes, given the maturity of the title a subscription service would make much more sense but won't happen due to it being unattractive financially (at least for now). But I'm sure I got the game for less than £20 last time, it's actually extraordinary cheap given the value and use most people get out of it. I'd probably pay up to £60 to be honest, and I'm sure many hardcore fans would follow. FIFA is much more expensive albeit a lot of that is due to XBOX vs. PC title. SI are hardly milking it. ~~~
Why does that custom manager character look like he's been taken straight from a PS1 game?
itzdrk
PES 16 has tactics for when in and out of possession, not seen this list (doubt it's there) but FM should have had this long ago.

The previous 10 years releases would suggest your first sentence is very wrong! There arent many places they can go with the format, but there are still pretty big flaws with some of the basics they could work on. If you have particular aspects of the game you'd like to improve you can list them here (and send to SI). I'm sure they'd actually be grateful for the feedback as they'll be scratching their heads for how to improve it. I don't see to be that aware of these apparently obvious bugs. You either don't go on holiday given this, or have to save the game before you do. Every year has bugs a plenty, mainly because, it seems, they introduce new features and redo things. Not having one release each year would eliminate a lot of that. And yes, given the maturity of the title a subscription service would make much more sense but won't happen due to it being unattractive financially (at least for now). Its the biggest selling game in the run up to Christmas each year. Its a valid point, though, that it is decent value for money
Homer Thompson
PES 16 has tactics for when in and out of possession, not seen this list (doubt it's there) but FM should have had this long ago. It used to. Not sure which version but the tactics screen used to have the pitch divided up into squares and you could set each players position when the ball was in each square, dependant on whether you were in possession or not. DensParkNumber1
Ill buy it. Cheap and fun, the create a manager looks awful but the new set piece instructions looks good. Im not seeing the difference in contact/transfer from that screenshot
LiviLion
Changing how the manager looks is pretty pointless, I'll probably still end up spending about half an hour doing it though...
forameus
PES 16 has tactics for when in and out of possession, not seen this list (doubt it's there) but FM should have had this long ago. They do, just not described that way. The formation you have determines your defensive shape with the instructions you apply to it being your attacking shape. The SI forums are an absolutely seething mess at the moment, mainly over a single screenshot it seems.

In fairness the new tactics screen looks absolutely awful, not convinced thats the final version though, more an early draft to show the set up

Thats not clear at all ETA - even so, its not really the same as being able to specifiy positions and tactics for both They're like that every Summer though. The actual tactics probably looks completely different.

In fairness the new tactics screen looks absolutely awful, not convinced thats the final version though, more an early draft to show the set up Indeed they are, but this year seems especially bad with the histrionics. Mods haven't gone into their usual "Super Scoreboard Libel Alert" mode just yet, so still a good laugh to poke the angry ones. Really? Thats not clear at all ETA - even so, its not really the same as being able to specifiy positions and tactics for both That's what seems to be the general consensus. Not saying it's particularly clear - it isn't - but just relaying what appears to be the intention. I'm on about this one... That's the one that's got everyone frothing. I'm not saying it looks good, although I wouldn't go as far as some have on it, it's more the ridiculousness over one single screenshot, without actually having any idea how it's going to work in practice. It could be absolutely hopeless, and at that point, fair enough. Someone did a knock-up of it on a higher resolution and it looked a lot better. Why they decided to show it off on a really low resolution I'm not sure, but that's another issue.

Homer Thompson
I'm on about this one... Ah, sorry. I thought you meant the one in the initial post. Dont really see the fuss, to be honest, its not that much different to now. That's what seems to be the general consensus. Not saying it's particularly clear - it isn't - but just relaying what appears to be the intention. Fair enough. Might have to go back and rethink some of my tactics
Poet of the Macabre
Haven't managed to get into an FM game since 2008. Why bother with create a manager and stuff like that when it looks so cheap?
