Pars fan
Hi there, super geeks. I hope you're all well. Is it possible to make your phone a wifi hot spot and connect your xbox live to it? Would it work with playing games etc? I doubt it will run smoothly enough but I thought someone on here must have tried it at one point? Thanks. 54_and_counting
it might work to an extent with 4g, but it will absolutely batter your data allowance

Pars fan
Thanks for the reply. Data isn't a problem as I've unlimited. Just wondering how it would run?
Homer Thompson
Thanks for the reply. Data isn't a problem as I've unlimited. Just wondering how it would run? Depends on your mobile coverage versus your broadband. You might want to check your mobile contract for "fair usage" policies, as you might be in danger of triggering those
Njord
Totally depends on mobile operator. And even then it's all changing. 3 for example, were the most 'unlimited' but even they had a soft cap at a tera. Although against t&c's, you could hotspot the lot, even on the basic £15 payg (now £20). But now their clamping down and you get the message about not being allowed , even if you change the APN to a more friendly one. Plus, the one plan is getting hit and is no more, and when you're moved the Max hotspoting is 8gig. Ways round it etc etc etc, but the situation is fluid. And 3g fine, possibly even better than 4g in a lot of cases (when the 800mhz gets launched for 4g in the next few weeks, even though it has lovely building penetration, the speed will only be @6/7 meg download I think). Dc-hspda + could be 40+ and it's 3g.
Davi3j
Apart from getting stung by your operators fair usage policy, if your intention was to use it for online gaming then i would imagine that it would be pretty awful. Download speeds might be decent enough, but mobile upload speeds aren't near good enough for gaming and you would find yourself lagging quite a bit. Pars fan
For future reference - I set this up a while ago and it worked with no problems at all. Even online gaming worked without any lag, good option to have if you're having broadband problems.
