Frustrating, but the good results couldn't go on forever, but it sounded like Hibs deserved it. A bit frustrating to be out the cup at the first hurdle but I guess it means we can focus on the league. Tricky game this weekend to focus on now.

Apparently Hibs are doing a lap of honour. Suppose it can only be a good thing that beating Aberdeen has become a feat worthy of a lap of honour.

How can you have a lap of honour infront of half a stand ?

Much rather have a blip in the league cup than the league

Why? These attitudes I don't understand as we've got far more chance of winning cup trophies than we have of the league. Like a night and day difference. If we've got a squad that actually has depth then we should be beating teams like Hibs. A loss is going to come at sometime but palming it off as "rather the three points" is delusional. This squad will be ranked on its achievements. 8/8 is impressive but silverware is what we should be looking for.

Average first half thought we had relative control but didn't offer much in the way of a threat. A bit pedestrian and lacking in a desire to get forward.

Baffled by our second half formation, seemed a 3-5-2 with logan playing in a central 3 (didn't work), with Mclaughlin and Pawlett operating as wing backs (bizarre and both were very poor).

We gave Hibs a lot of encouragement with a system that didn't work and we got outfought all over the pitch. You could tell the goal was coming as we just couldn't get our foot on it. Actually even thought introducing Robson might bring a bit of composure to our game, but the fact we were on our final sub and possibly looking at extra time prevented that.

All in all bad nights work, don't buy into this focus on the league stuff some fans are coming out with. We're 8 games into the league FFS we are nowhere near "title challengers" yet despite how carried away we're getting.

Also the league cup is a 4 game tournament over 6 months christ almighty it that derails a league title bid you don't deserve to win the league.

Well done Hibs, fully deserved.

Pretty much what Dons_1988 said.

Also as an aside, most teams over here that win their matches do some sort of 'ole' or lap of honour at home when beating any team. I was travelling back from seeing Zbrojovka scrape a 0-1 win against third-tier Kroměříž and (embarassingly after the performance) they still did this. Don't really know what's wrong with, in this case, a team celebrating a good victory.

Thought we were rank rotten tonight. We passed the ball about but never went anywhere with it. Thought the formation at the start was strange as Hibs were always going to pack the defence and middle. We should have stuck with wingers I know Hayes was out but presumably that is why we brought in Parker and we also have Wright. There is no point changing a winning formation just because we are missing one player.

We didn't create a clear chance all night through a combination of bad play and good defending. The subs did knock us in the first half but fully expected us to come out in the 2nd half and get back to how we normally play. instead we experimented with a formation that didn't work either.

Hibs waited for the chance and took it when it came so we can't have any complaints. Up until that point I was having an enjoyable night out in the capital.

Decided to head along to this and didn't recognise Aberdeen from recent performances. Hibs certainly deserved the win and two good goals, but was surprised by Aberdeen's apathy. A good support down too. Is McLaughlin usually that poor? Must have given the ball away every time he had it. Thought Fontaine was excellent for Hibs.
