For years teams have gone into this under cooked and have been elimanted before the season actually starts, So i believe that my proposal will help teams A) Play more matches B) use it has a Post Pre-season game for better warm up for the League Season C) Ensure that you can get the crowds in My format 42 clubs will take part in the League Cup (Its the same as it is currently) But some teams will come into the competition before other teams. First Round will be 10 Groups of 3 All teams from the 3 lower divisions of Scotland will be drawn together, All teams will play each other once (In August) The winners of them 10 groups will go though to the last stages with the 8 SPL Sides (Not in Europe) These will play in 6 groups of 3 (September) Winners and Runners up will go though (Each team will play 2 games) The 12 teams will be joined by the 4 SPL sides that are in Europe and they will play a Knockout all the way till the final. Complex but this format will end dead games as well, and retain the knockout element from the last 16 onwards Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Could do it like the Japanese league and do away with draws. 3 points for a 90 minute win, 2 points for an ET win, 1 point for a shootout win and nothing for a loss. I reckon your format requires 10 matchdays compared to 6 in the current format.It doesnt end dead games either necessarily (although there are no dead games in the current format so not sure what your point is). In your opening groups with one team advancing if one team plays and wins the first two games then game three is a dead rubber. In you second round groups with two advancing then if one team loses the opening two games the remaining one is a dead rubber. I dont really see why the crowds would be any bigger than they are now? Want to have another go at it or can we just presume it was another daft idea to fix something that doesnt particularly need fixed without having thought it through properly?
