Good performance from the boys with the management having to shuffle through injuries I believe. Luger a really good team so hopefully the boys take something from that going into next weeks game at Saltcoats another tough but winnable game

Don't get your knickers all knotted. This was hardly a result that elevates Muirkirk into the ranks of league champion contenders.

The game was absolute mince. Muirkirk scored from what was probably their one and only chance. A Gary Russell free kick, (perfectly struck, by the way) midway through the first half. Then followed a game where Muirkirk parked their bus across the 6 yard line and wasted time at every opportunity. Lugar huffed and puffed and had the ball for 90% of the possession, but their lack of adventure was painful to watch. It seems their remit from Ayr is to practice holding onto the ball. Both keepers could quite easily have taken out a deckchair to relax on.

credit where credit is due, muirkirk might not be league contenders this year but if they can keep the same team for a couple of seasons who knows.muirkirk learned how to win a game on sat, there first win in the league might not have been good to watch but a win never the less.confidence will be high for the next game and good luck to them.lugar have learned not to give away free kicks where a guy of gary russells quality can have a pop at goal.good luck to both teams for the rest of the season.away to saltcoats on sat must be in with a chance, could be the start of a wee run of wins. :thumsup2

Credit to Muirkirk for getting eleven men behind the ball for 95% of the game. Lugar are a good football side but they play too much football for a junior side. Muirkirk did well and good luck for this season. The Lugar management team need to look quickly at their non tactics

how many of the so called big teams park the bus after going ahead? muirkirk needed to learn how to win a game and not let in goal in extra time to make it 1-1,they did it,they will grow with confidence now.lugar would have been the same if they had held on against whitllets, its all about learning for these young teams.

Winning while not playing well is the mark of champions m8.

Beenzon-toste , no one at muirkirk has suggested we are champion contenders but it was our 1st victory (which is 1 more than lugar ) & victories have been very scarce up here for a few years so let us have our moment . As for your totally unbiased report of the game ???? , the 1st half was very even with few chances being created by both teams & the 1st bit of class in front of goals from Gary Russell free-kick turned out to be the winner ,, 2nd half lugar did have the bulk of play but were restricted to long range efforts by some tremendous defending , muirkirk ground out the victory & I hope there's a few more before the season ends
