Should there be a borders league

There's certain to be ongoing debate between one division (more variety) v two divisions (more to play for), in part depending on the number of clubs. I don't imagine there will ever be demand to regionalise into parallel Lothians and Borders divisions, though, as was experimented with in the 1960s.

Something more realistic might be reinstating the Border Cup. Up to last season the 6 EOSL Border clubs had collectively won 4 trophies in 25 years. It was stopped in the 1950s when Borders football was riding high. No-one then envisaged the entire region winning 1 cup in over a decade (Selkirk in EOSQC 2007-08) before Peebles Rovers success of last season.

Some might say that was insular or unambitious but on the other hand the universities, Dumfries & Galloway and North of Scotland FA clubs have their own distinct cups.

I don't think finding dates would be a major problem - e.g. play the opening ties the weekend before the season starts, and the next round on midweek in August (only Eyemouth played this midweek for example), and you'd have most of the ties cleared-up already. Hawick and Gala have floodlights too and there is also the Christmas break, although the Lowland is playing on New Year this season... I think a bigger issue could be whether the Lowland triumvirate even wanted to participate, maybe seeing it as small fry. On the other hand if they didn't you'd only have 6 which is 2x R1, 2x SF and Final.

Btw, for a bit of a laugh I'll keep a league table here based on results between Border teams in the EOSL this season, and we'll see who wins . Full card tomorrow:

Interestingly enough the real-life Border League in rugby union - which is the oldest league in the world in that sport - operates on this basis. Scores in games between those Border clubs playing in the nationwide levels of the SRU leagues, largely comprise the Border League competition.

As there are multiple divisions in the SRU leagues, clubs have to set-up dedicated Border League matches with those opponents in different divisions, if they do not draw them in the SRU Cup.

So Bdogfc's idea might not be as crazy as it seems, if he was following the oval ball game not the round one.

Bdogfc is the same person as fc united. And is a player who plays for Kelso already and has slated them on this.

Not sure if anyone else cares. Please let Kelso United FC's good name remain, and stop posting here about them. You are bringing the club into disrepute and are presumably breaking your club and league's code of conduct. Kelso are plainly having a difficult start to the season, so the last thing they need is bitching about them on here. If you want to be a P&B hero, fair enough, but not whilst representing a club with a proud history.
