billthetim
On Saturday Peter Byrne of Newmains scored in 6 seconds against Craigmark . This has been agreed and verified by their committee. This will surely take some beating at any level?
dt17
How'd it happen? Long shot from kickoff or what?
Nugent4nil
John McLay for Arthurlie away to Auchinleck Scottish quarters was roughly the same, without an actual big clock or referees say so it's difficult to get them bang on, that said congratulations to Peter on a feat that's got to be up there! pelesboots
I think McLays goal was timed at 17 seconds Robert.
EK man
Alan McCrae for East Kilbride Thistle at Kilbirnie timed at 5secs about 7yrs ago. Thistle kick off pass to McCrae, two strides into Kilbirnie half and unleashed a shot into net.
Arthurlie1981
I think McLays goal was timed at 17 seconds Robert. It's was about 13. Would of been a few seconds quicker if he hasn't missed the 1st attempt.
garrellburn
A pointless arguement, there have been many very quick goals scored at every level, unless the game was filmed from the kick-off the actual time is only an inspired guess at best. Does anyone actually keep their eye on the second hand of their watch right from the moment of the kick-off anticipating that there might be a goal in the first few seconds, even if you glance down at your watch after the ball goes into the net there has to be some delay and it is again only a guess. I always record the actual kick-off time , but only to the minute usually, I don't worry about the actuasl seconds. Camera footage is always time stamped now so there you can be pretty certain of an actual time but does anyone have such footage from the 1950's; 60's, 70's etc. So the claims for fastest ever can never be resolved. Ali_Wee_Jag
Dougie Elms scored a 5 seconds into the season goal at Tranent a good few years ago for Dunbar Utd. First match of the new season. League Cup group game against Craig Pucko, who had just signed for Tranent from ourselves. Roughly 15 years ago now.
Brig O'Lea
There is no way 6 seconds is the fastest goal. This goal from Neilston's Gary Sturrock from the restart after a Pollok goal was the result of one player rolling the ball to the other who then leathers it to the net. I'm making that about 3 and a half seconds so anyone who hits a ball virtually direct from a kick off will beat 6 seconds.

Jacktonite
Just looking at the Lok players in the video I think I might have played in that game.... Don't remember the goal though, old age has finally set in!! Lol smashing goal by Gary!
The Old Northerner
I'm making that about 3 and a half seconds From the first sound of the ref's whistle to the ball being under the crossbar (can't swear it's over the line from the angle given) is 3.25 seconds. Don't remember the goal though, old age has finally set in!! Lol smashing goal by Gary! I take it that's Ronnie Lowrie who says "don't give things away" just as the ball is hit? Gary Sturrock and TM still argue to this day about who scored the best ever goal at Brig O'Lea. Sorry Gary but I'm with TM against Petershill in 2007! Don't remember the goal though, old age has finally set in!! Lol smashing goal by Gary! Yep, you played that day! 'Lok team was: Barnes, O'Neil, Fabiani, Giles, Pacitti, M McWilliams, Newman, Johnston, Lynch, D McWilliams, Elliott (Diamond 56). Not used: McLean, McGregor, Hendry, Craig. Andy Newman with a late winner after Gary Sturrock's spectacular strike cancelled out Drew McWilliams' opener.
