Favourite Old Firm Player

Recommended Posts

We all know that most supporters in Scotland despise Rangers and Celtic. However, every so often each club will have signed a player who makes all that hatred disappear for 90 minutes.

For me growing up, I loved watching Lubomir Moravcik. Heard him on Sportsound earlier and it reminded me of watching him in my early teens and thinking "why can't all footballers play like he does?" An absolute magician.

Russell Latapy was my favourite Rangers player, but that's because he's Russell f***ing Latapy, man.

At the moment, Celtic have a player that I can't help but fall a little in love with - Stefan Johansen. Rangers, don't.

It would be nice if this didn't descend into the usual Rangers v Celtic tit-for-tat :)

Larsson for Celtic. Scored for fun but was overall likable.

Laudrup was probably the best I have seen here, but Gio Van Bronkhorst was my favourite player in a Gers shirt.

Aye, wouldn't it, though?

Anyway, Larsson and Laudrup. Both excellent players, and seemed to stay well out of the usual bullshit. Probably helped that neither are Scottish.

Marvin Andrews. My mate somehow has him on snapchat and he sends out daily pictures of him with a big toothy grin with motivational captions. Always seemed like a nice guy and he miraculously managed to play most of a season with a cruciate knee injury which is pretty cool.

Incidentally, was watching some masters football type tournament held in the Caribbean on sky sports the other day and Andrews won the golden boot playing for a Liverpool legends team (for some unknown reason) alongside the likes of Patrik Berger and Stan Collymore. Madness.

Henrik

Laudrup and Gazza were some players. Neither went on to Man Utd and Barcelona though.

So, as I said........ Henrik

Aye but Brian came to Rangers after being a European champion with Denmark and picking up player of the tournament whilst he was at it :)

It's mental looking at the quality of some of they players and looking at what we've got now. On the plus side it's good for Scottish players

Larsson staying at Celtic for so long when he was so good is something you don't see happen very often

Larsson and Laudrup would both have been on a hefty wedge anyway, but you get the impression that they both were settled with their families, and that was more important to them personally than more cash elsewhere.

I understand financing players of that quality led to some problems in Scottish football, so hopefully we just stick to what we can afford from now on, eh? :P

Aye definitely. All the chat of Scottish football is in decline is nonsense. I think we are now at a more realistic level.

We do need our teams to start doing a bit better in Europe though.

From Kinning Park, Jorg Albertz swinging that stealth left fucking foot of his made the hairs on my balls stand up, frankly. Which led to a full-on rapist's crowbar of an erection when he thundered one in at Forthbank for his 'big' team. From Walfrid's work team, no doubting Larsson as the best, but most enjoyment from watching would be Moravcik. Other Clyde fans might remember a story about him :P

I'd agree if clubs werent falling over themselves to still, to this day charge offensive prices to pay for sub-standard incompetent shite players. A few normal.results for the national.side changes nothing.
