Know many of you use your hand held sets to post on P&B so thought this info may be of some use.

My mobile was badly water damaged this morning, went deed instantly.

Asked the daughter for some advice by e-mail, she advised to put it in a bag of rice for 3 days  thought, dinnae fancy that, no wastin my Pilau Rice on a mobile.

Anyway, had visions of having to buy a new device, until sourcing this video on youtube.

Sorted in a couple of minutes, worked a treat!

So youd rather spend more on a new phone than less on some rice?

The lassies determined to get it in rice Tommy, told her it was up working & charging now but she said I might still have to put it in rice or may have problems in future.

The boy on the video swears by this method though, says he`s dropped his in the drink 6 times & the (J.Edgar) is the way to go.

I actually used the rice method (just overnight, not for three days !) almost a year ago and my phone's been fine since, bud. ;)

Good to know how to deal with these type mishaps when they come along Tommy.

First time its happened to me so was at a loss how to deal with it initially.

The video was a good find however, problem sorted in 3-4 minutes.

It won't work if you drop it into salt water, the salt corrodes the circuits in no time at all. I've retrieved a couple of them in Malta (I'm a scuba diver) and although they were only briefly underwater they did not recover although washed in fresh water almost immediately. Maybe curry sauce instead of rice would have done the trick.

I suffered terrible burns to my feet making rice for my tea one night. The packet said 'stand in boiling water for 3 minutes'.

Haha. Mind the wife caught me staring at a carton of fresh orange juice. She asked what I was doing and I told her "Sshhh. It says concentrate."
