Alan Stubbs - uneducated coach

Do you copy and paste this for every reply? You need to get some new material.

Considering I've only used it twice?

I can change it if it's got you that badly rattled

Interesting comments

I think you'll find that I, Rod Petrie, am responsible for the three three-hour training sessions per day.

The facilities aren't free and my staff's free-time would be better spent outside of the time I am spending on them.

Mon then.

If anyone is getting more than three hours sleep, I want the training sessions lumbered with the additional hours that they slumbered.

Do this or your days will be numbered.

Don't really give a toss about the opinion of some jumped up Dutch coach who thinks he's the epitome of training and conditioning knowledge, considering he's criticised the training methods of several top English sides including Chelsea and Man City.

Jumped up coach

He's one of, if not the, most respected conditioning coaches in the world.

Good for him, sadly I'm all out of cookies at the moment

How much information do you think he has received on the exact training schedules of Hibernian FC and how much do you reckon it may be a reaction based on headlines to slag another British coach?

And he's based his opinion on one article in the Edinburgh Evening News. He's got absolutely no idea what our training schedule will look like.

He's based his opinion on the general culture in the UK of pushing players as hard as they can to get their 'general fitness' up, when he thinks conditioning should be short, sharp and tailored to individuals to get the best out of them. In fairness that might be what Stubbs is doing, mentioning quality over quantity in the article, but the multiple sessions suggests otherwise.

I gather his biggest gripe is about having double or triple sessions that build up fatigue before the season has even started, which can cause unnecessary injury and dampen the quickness of more explosive players.

He's not just a jumped up coach, his record speaks for itself. His outspoken way might not win over supporters though.

Hearts and Neilsons also have introduced the triple training sessions recently but there is no evidence to back up what some of the sessions involve. Some of them might just be video analysis or set piece sessions

I would be astounded if Stubbs is using triple sessions each day for gruelling fitness training, especially in a warmer climate. If he is, then this Dutch guy is right to criticise.

Outwith pre season and injury rehab, players should only really be training for around 90 minutes to 2 hours a day. The reason for that is quite obvious

So is this guy is just assuming that each session is gruelling fitness work in searing heat? As has been mentioned they could be working on shape, video analysis etc.

Stubbs comes across as a well educated coach, and came to Hibs from a Premiership club. I highly doubt he's running his players into the ground. This guy just seems like a bit of a p***k who's slating him based on a vague newspaper article.

It is true that the UK and Scotland do focus on "Stamina" So you get players like Willo Flood, Dennis Wise, David Speedie, Gordon Durie or Kenny Miller that can run and battle all day. Unfortunately this seems to come at the cost of acceleration and actual speed to an extent actual football ability. I think we are moving away from this an it is only to the good. Coaching seems to be getting better although the physical conditioning of our players seems to be poorer than in the top European countries.

I hardly think Stubbs is unique in his coaching methods. It works to the extent that we do produce those battling players and they can cope with the "manliness" of the Scottish game which not all Europeans (or indeed Scottish players) can.

It's quite clear from the interview he's planning on hammering them.

No-one I know does like working to the maximum heart rate.

Doesn't sound like video analysis to me. And why would you need the heat for that?
