Wigtown or saints

How good is this 'new' Crichton team going to be?? And will Wigtown keep enough of their squad to be even considered challengers?? And will saints have the unity to actually mount a challenge this year??

Pre season league prediction.

Saints

Wigtown

Newton

Edu

Lochar

Abbey Vale

Heston

Crichton

Fleet

Mids

Uppers

Creetown

Nithsdale

YMCA

I'd expect Saints to win the league with the signings they've made. Wigtown having lost a few players to Dalbeattie will no doubt weaken them so retaining the league will be very hard. Saints will have the strongest team by quite a bit so not winning the league would be a poor season from them. On the other hand, if Edu start the league with their strongest squad and aren't relying on local lads to make up the numbers until the French lads arrive, they would be Saints closest challengers and could easily take the league title.

I'd expect Newton to have a strong squad like they have done in recent years and finish well up there. Lochar seem to have retained most of their squad from last season and will therefore win their fair share of games. Abbey vale had a great season last season and will use that as leverage for this season but will undoubtedly feel the effects of losing their top goalscorer. Heston will provide a challenge for every team in the league and could take points off anyone, especially at Palmerston, but i'd expect them to struggle for consistency as usual and finish mid table. Crichton are an unknown quantity this year following their 11th hour revival after seemingly looking to fold. Great to see them back playing at the Crichton grounds and having a bit of identity again after wasting away on the 3G at Dumfries High School. Fleet had one of their best season in a long time last season and will want to continue that form. Losing Rudd up front may cost them goals and the 12 match ban for big impact goalkeeper hutchison at the beginning of the season could give them an uphill battle from the start. Mids recently have seemed capable of beating most teams in the league but struggle for consitency which could find them lower down the table that they could potentially be. Uppers had some good performances and results in their debut season. They'll be hoping for much the same plus a few more wins this season and start to turn themselves into one of the bigger players of the league. Creetown had a much better season last year compared to recent years and will be hoping for much the same. Could do with a couple of strong signings to see them finish further up the table. Nithsdale had a very dispoointing year last year after having been a very tough team to play against, especially at Sanquhar. You never know what Nithsdale team are going to turn up each matchday but hopefully they turn up a bit more than they did last year. YMCA seems to have been busy making summer signings and are certainly gearing up for the season ahead. A very difficult season last year but credit to the team for not throwing in the towel after so many heavy defeats. Surely the first win is only around the corner? What a night out that will be when it finally arrives...

Obviously I haven't been able to keep on top of every signing in the league and this is only a rough guide from the little info I have (Plus a lot of opinion added in). It will no doubt be very, very wrong (YMCA win the league, Saints finish bottom) and i'll look like a complete tit by as early as September.

Why has fleet stars goal keeper got a 12 match ban?

Here's a few wee quotes fae the story on the Daily Record website about it!!

"a seemingly aggressive handshake has landed the keeper in hot water with the SFA"

"dished out a 12 game ban after finding Hutchison guilty of breaching a number of rules"

"They included questioning the integrity of an official, using offensive language towards him, adopting aggressive behaviour and “squeezing and twisting the hand of the match official with excessive force”. Another charge of spitting at the official was dropped."

You could at least have linked to my story and got me a few hits to boost my numbers at work :lol:http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/local-sport/fleet-star-goalie-shaun-hutchison-5987255

Wouldn't be surprise if the "questioning the integrity" bit is because he challenged the official's version of events and that was deemed to be the equivalent of calling him a liar. Ridiculous if true.

I know it's four different bans for four things but it's utterly ridiculous when you consider what some guys get away with.
