They could have split it into four pools of eight, each supplying a semifinalist, or eight of four supplying a quarterfinalist. Start with Brora St. Germain, Elgin, Peterhead, and Monty in North. The three other Angus clubs and East Fife go in the East Coast pot. Cowdungpish, Raith, Dumbvermin and Alloa in East Forth. Shire, Stenny, Stirling and Falkirk in Central. Hibs, Edinburgh, Livvy, Berwick in Lothian & Border. Annan, the proper Queens, Stranraer and Ayr in Southwest. Morton, St.Mirren, Dumbarton, Rangers, Kwee Pee, Clyde, Airdrie and Albinos in Clydeside/Greater Glasgow, with two last-eight spots available to that division because it's harder to break down into two fours, and even at the worst case scenario using public transport, Morton or Dumbarton facing Clyde, Airdrie or Albion Rovers isn't a journey which should take much more than an hour. Considerable less time than most of the others would take travelling to any of their 'local' opponents.

Supporters seem to be pleased with the draw- a real one off trip, and another ground to tick off the list. Looking forward to it.

Any pub tips (doesn't appear to be many in the town as you'd expect for a wee place) or is social club at the ground the best plan?

Been there a few times for friendly games, never really been in the town the ground is the 1st place you see so just been there. They have a social club though.

Thinking about it I have been trough the town on the way to Wick but can't really mind much about it.

Aww c'mon, that's commonsense. The SPFL don't do commonsense. Only thing I'd change from your groups would be to put a different Angus team in the North group - we've been to Brora and it's a very friendly club but an arse of a journey. Decent suppin facilities at the ground mind.

I think the only idea in regionalising it was to avoid people having to go from one end of the country to the other on midweek.

Then latterly on the opening day of the season, too.

Almost everyone Brora could have drawn is a long trip.

You could have smaller regions but then the quality imbalance between them would increase and you'd still have oddities.

Well, yeah, but statistcally that biggest imbalance upon my suggestion would be along Clydeside/Greater Glasgow with four Championship sides, and two last-eight spots available to befit this. One in the SouthWest & Central, 2 in Centre-East and Lothian each having one spot retains a degree of continuity and integrity. I suppose Brechin could be an alternative in the North group, but its not their fault Montrose were so shite until game 38. Even God can't decide geography, and certainly not Neil fucking Doncaster. Into the North you go!!

It's not common sense at all. It would be atrocious.

I seem to recall a pub in the town, and a chippy too (all mod cons). We drank in the Social Club when we played them. Took them a while to open the pie stall though....

There's also a good chippy in Golspie on the way there.

Here's a pic of the ground with magnificent Highland scenery in the background.

Not top of Alloa's wish list a 5 hour trip to Brora I guess. Could be a very tricky game for the Wasps. One goal will decide it

Most alloa fans are happy with the draw afaik, the lowest placed club in the section, a good away day and a new ground to visit.

The Sutherland Inn is the only pub in the village that's open all the time, The Brays opening times are intermittent at best (if it's even still open, not 100% sure). Social Club will definitely be open as well. The 25th is the last day of the Brora Carnival Week, so there may well be stuff going on in the marquee (will be up in the Primary School playing fields next to Dudgeon Park so you can't miss it) before the game.

It's also the first day of Golspie Gala Week, so I'd recommend stopping in the Stag, Caber and/or Ben on the main street for a few pints either before or after, all should be pretty busy.
