less than 4 weeks until kick off and we have a squad of 10, only half of which are worth considering for the first team.

12-0.

I think we may have 11 players now so we must be heavy favourites! ha. Nice to be playing the big Rangers :) .

Would have loved this to be an away tie to tick your ground off the list. Our last meeting was at Love St in 2003 so this will be Berwick's first trip to our newish ground.

Our head to head is here http://www.statto.com/football/teams/st-mirren/berwick-rangers/head-to-head.

And it's nice to be playing the biggest and oldest team in the championship to come from the Glasgow area. However as Yellow Feet stated, our severe lack of squad , and high percentage of our lack of squad being shite, will mean a large home win.

  • 3 weeks later...

As a mate had kindly lent me his season ticket, I'm kicking off the season at this game. Went from looking forward to it to quite excited now due to the prospect of getting to possibly abuse Ian Black for an afternoon.

Goodwin v Black should be a larf.

With season tickets valid and a 3pm Saturday kick off it should be a relatively good crowd for this one. I'd expect in the region of 3000 home fans... How many Berwick fans should we expect up from south of the border?

I imagine our team will be something like:

With a couple of trialists here and there. Like every team I guess, we are a few signings short of an ideal squad at the moment. That is still a first eleven with a lot of experience though, and it should be good enough to see us through on Saturday.

Personally, I'm a fan of this competition. Obviously it's 4th on the list of priorities for every team that enters it, but it's a good chance to win a trophy and make a bit of money at the same time. Winning trophies is what it's all about afterall. With Hibs playing Rangers it does open up the competition a good bit. If we win on Saturday we will be second favourites to win it come Sunday morning.

So it's all about getting though for me. Not really concerned how we do it, whether it's on penalties after a turgid 0-0 or if we win 6-0, it doesn't matter really. Just need to get ourselves in the next round.

First competitive game of the season and looking forward to it.

The Buddies' front pairing of Alan Gow and Stephen Thompson worries me a bit when we're still an experienced centre half short, but a good chance for Wilson to nail his spot in Ainslie's absence. Wonder what kind of midfield line-up we'll go for? Suspect 4-5-1 with Lavery as the lone striker.

Not sure what the away support will be like, but probably 60-80 ish. I've never seen us come remotely near beating St. Mirren, so Saturday would be a good time to change that.

Front row seats for the Black v Goodwin mortal kombat exhibition. What's not to like?

Hope we're breaking out our new strips.

Probably the only time an opposition fan will say that about Thommo n Gow. If you stop the deliveries going into the penalty box you's should have nothing to fear.

These 2 are the least mobile strike force I think Saints have ever had. I include the Yardley & Lavety and Jim Hamilton & Dennis Wyness partnerships in that.
