HibeeJibee
There are 6 Junior clubs in this season's tournament, with dates and entry points announced by SFA earlier: http://www.scottishfa.co.uk/scottish_fa_news.cfm?page=2986&newsID=14985&newsCategoryID=1 First up the 3 qualifiers... Auchinleck, Hermes and Kelty... alongwith Girvan enter in the First Preliminary Round. Over the course of 2 preliminary rounds 15 clubs will be brought down to just 5 who will proceed to the First Round proper. Any who do survive to that stage will join Banks o'Dee and Linlithgow Rose. PR1 draw: HL - Cove Rangers LL - Vale of Leithen EOSL - LTHV, Civil Service Strollers, Burntisland Shipyard, Hawick Royal Albert SOSL - Wigtown & Bladnoch, St Cuthbert Wanderers, Newton Stewart NCL - Golspie Sutherland Juniors - Hermes, Kelty Hearts, Auchinleck Talbot, Girvan Amateurs - Harestanes Kelty are make their debut of course, Hermes appeared once before (losing to Deveronvale), whilst Auchinleck are becoming old hands in the competition. With the First Preliminary Round on August 15th and the Second Preliminary Round on September 5th, all the first tranche will be hoping to avoid each other (and any slip-ups) in the pursuit of a place in the competition proper. There are a number of weak opponents in the preliminaries but the likes of Cove Rangers, LTHV and possibly Harestanes and VofL could prove trickier. Thoughts on the Junior clubs prospects and preferences? Also any news on where Kelty might play?
superbigal
Can you shed any light on why/how Glasgow Uni get straight to round 1 ? Assume it must be a licensing issue ?
HibeeJibee
Can you shed any light on why/how Glasgow Uni get straight to round 1 ? Assume it must be a licensing issue ? Yes, it's licensing... Everyone in HL & LL (except Cove Rangers and Vale of Leithen evidently) are licensed, as are Coldstream, Glasgow University, Banks o'Dee and Linlithgow Rose. Licensed clubs are exempt from preliminaries hence enter in R1. Accordingly the number of remaining spaces in R1 drops. Also remember top 2 in HL & LL enter in R2. If both Cove and Vale had got their licenses in time there would had to have been a single Extra Preliminary Tie, presumably late July?, to bring 13 down to 12... who would then have become 6... then only 3 into the competition proper!! RobRoyGuy
Very interesting if harestanes get a junior side, think they would have a squeak against hermes, Talbot or kelty as you would expect little chance. Ideally like to see them get a bye!
HibeeJibee
First Preliminary Round Civil Service Strollers v Newton Stewart Harestanes AFC v Girvan St Cuthbert Wanderers v Burntisland Shipyard Golspie Sutherland v Cove Rangers Wigtown & Bladnoch v Vale of Leithen Second Preliminary Round Civil Service / Newton Stewart v Kelty Hearts Hermes v Auchinleck Talbot Wigtown / Vale of Leithen v Hawick Royal Albert Lothian Thistle HV v Harestanes / Girvan Golspie / Cove v St Cuthbert / Burntisland
mick90
The Talbot - Glenafton Ardagh cup game moved to Monday 17th will probably go back to the 15th now. Cove likely to beat Golspie and so the Cove - Saints or BSY tie in September should displace the HFL game due to be played at Formartine .. HibeeJibee
You'd expect them to dispatch Girvan. Away to EOS League champions LTHV is more intriguing. Where will Harestanes be playing the home tie? 'Unconfirmed', IIRC.
Ayr Victoria
You'd expect them to dispatch Girvan.Girvan will be vastly improved this year. Watch this space
RobRoyGuy
last season harestanes would of thumped them, this season not so sure what with a few Maybole players now at them and their manager who has done well in the juniors having more time to bring his players. Should be a close game, wouldn't be surprised at all if harestanes won.
RobRoyGuy
Yeah i would say so, would expect Roy to win though maybe by a couple of goals.
RobRoyGuy
Far as i know they haven't , though have heard one maybe leaving they will bring some in. They are an excellent side, they would be a decent junior side for sure.

After this season full members of the SFA get kicked out if they don't get licensed, so more format changes are likely.
The elf
If they were to beat girvan, personally a think they will go on and beat lothian as well.played against both of them and will be a great game to watch.
