FFA Cup 1st Round draw made yesterday with 3 all A-League ties and away ties for the other 4 A-League clubs. Games to be played from 28 July to 12 August with live coverage of some ties on Fox Sports. Croydon Kings won the SA Cup on Saturday after winning last seasons State Grand Final. Might go to their game v Brisbane Lions as ground is only 2km from where I live. Balmain Tigers who meet Melbourne Victory are the lowest ranked club at Level 4.

Newcastle Jets v Perth Glory

Central Coast Mariners v Wellington Phoenix

Western Sydney Wanderers v Brisbane Roar

Croydon Kings (SA) v Lions FC (QLD)

Hume City (VIC) v Brisbane Strikers (QLD)

Blacktown City (NSW) v MetroStars (SA)

Rockdale City Suns (NSW) v Perth SC (WA)

Oakleigh Cannons (VIC) v Far North Queensland Heat (QLD)

Palm Beach Sharks (QLD) v South Melbourne (VIC)

Sydney United (NSW) v South Hobart (TAS)

Gungahlin United (ACT) v Sydney Olympic (NSW)

Broadmeadow Magic (Northern NSW) v Heidelberg United (VIC)

Darwin Olympic (NT) v Adelaide United

Sorrento FC (WA) v Sydney FC

Balmain Tigers (NSW) v Melbourne Victory

Edgeworth FC (Northern NSW) v Melbourne City

How much is it into games in the A-League? Wanting to head to see Brisbane on the 22nd of January.

Don't think walk up ticket prices have been released by most clubs yet and will depend on where you want to sit and how big the game is but In Adelaide probably around $25-40. Check the Brisbane Roar web site closer to the start of the season.

Quite a few pre-season games coming up this month:

Wed 15 Adelaide United v Manchester City (Gold Coast - closed doors)

Fri 17 Brisbane Roar v Liverpool (Suncorp)

Sat 18 Melbourne City v Manchester City (Gold Coast)

Sat 18 Real Madrid v AS Roma (MCG)

Mon 20 Adelaide United v Liverpool (Adelaide Oval)

Tues 21 AS Roma v Manchester City (MCG)

Fri 24 Manchester City v Real Madrid (MCG)

Cheapest tickets for Liverpool game in Brisbane is $73 and Adelaide $45.88 although that is for a standing area. They are even charging $20 to attend an open training session in Adelaide. Think cheapest tickets for the MCG games just under $70. Most tickets for all these games will be in the $100 plus bracket. Lot of money for pre-season friendlies with probable multiple substitutions.

Adelaide United coach Josep Gombau has resigned for family reasons although he still had a year to go on his contract. His assistant, ex Barcelona and Spanish international player, Guillermo Amor, will take over from 1 August in a 2 year deal.

For some reason I always though Gombau was Dutch! :1eye

It's live on BT Sport over here

Game being played at Cbus Stadium the home of the Gold Coast Titans rugby league club. It's a pity aren't playing at the Sharks home ground. Both are Tier 2 clubs and South Melbourne used to play in the old NSL as South Melbourne Hellas and Australia's coach Ange Postecoglou played for them.

:unsure2: Why? Are they really desperate to show live games?

They normally just use the feed from one of the channels in Australia for the league fixtures I'm sure, so it's probably just a case of sticking something on to fill the gap, with very little effort required on their part. Not sure if they showed any of the early rounds from the cup last season, however.
