U21 European Championship

Recommended Posts

Just started this evening. Caught the very end of the opening game, the host Czech Republic v Denmark. Denmark won 2-1.

Germany v Serbia has just kicked off. Serbia are 1-0 up after 9 minutes.

It is live on BT Sport and it is good to have some live football on during the early evening instead of late at night or early in the morning.

There's something so summery about watching England getting outclassed by international opposition.

And it's happening again now, Portugal clearly the technically superior side and well worth their 1-0 lead.

England's EPL 'stars' like Kane, Ward Prowse, Ings etc getting shown up at the minute.

Full time 1-0 then, and a fair reflection of the game.

Portugese number 10 Bernardo Silva was absolutely brilliant, best player on the park by a mile.

England looking at another early flight home, lol.

That's 5 consecutive defeats at U21 Championship finals, and they've gone 10 games without a win. James Milner scored in their last victory - he's 29 now.

Amazing considering all the "Premier League experience" they have.

Didn't know that - why on earth are they "favourites" then?

Is it just based on their record in qualification?

They all play in the best league in the world so must be better. - English pundits logic.

TalkSport was at it again.

Alan Brazil said his team talk would be 'you all play in the best league in the world you're better players than these guys just go out and stick 2 or 3 past that mob have some confidence about yourself'

The other pundits giving it the same plus the excuses that they're missing Sterling and Barkley plus Stones is injured. For weeks now I've heard, including from Gareth Southgate that they're going to win it and should be winning it. Looks like they could be papped out 72 hours after they started.

Hilarious

I don't know how anybody can listen to that drink addled bigot. All he does is glorify the Old Firm and sneer at the rest of us. He's another that does nothing but damage to Scottish football's reputation.

You laugh, but I guarantee it's the kind of thing Stuart Pearce would have been coming out with for the 6 years he was in charge of them.

Saw the 2009 team recently, Leroy Lita and Martin Craine
