Premier League 2015-16

Recommended Posts

New fixtures out today (Scotland's aren't released till Friday if you were wondering).

Villa start at Bournemouth which is rubbish as I hate playing newly-promoted teams early, especially away.

Man U v Tottenham is bound to be televised in the opening weekend.

Interesting observation on the English fixtures.

There are only 5 blank dates in the whole season... i.e. not taken for league games, FA Cup, League Cup, CL/EL or internationals:
* Wednesday 12th August
* Wednesday 16th December
* Wednesday 23rd December
* Wednesday 20th April
* Wednesday 11th May

However, there are 4 dates in the spring which are double-allocated:
* Saturday 27th February ... league + League Cup Final
* Wednesday 2nd March ... league + FA Cup R5 replays
* Saturday 12th March ... league + FA Cup QFs
* Saturday 23rd April ... league + FA Cup SFs

They're surely running quite a risk, that not all the league games postponed by the above cup-ties can be accommodated on April 20th, May 10th, or on CL/EL midweeks?

It's a minor point but will be a major one if club competing in several fronts ends-up with fixture congestion!!

Haha, did you really figure that out or see it posted somewhere else?

It's some attention to detail! Are you considering a career change?

Liverpool's first 7 away games:

Stoke

Arsenal

Manchester United

Everton

Tottenham

Chelsea

Manchester City

Jurgen Klopp must have had a hand in picking those fixtures.

If Rodgers is still Liverpool manager after the Manchester City game, he'll have done well.

Suppose clutching at straws at least they don't play any of them at home.

Back to f ing Stoke again first game couldn't make it up :lol:

West Ham under the impression they'll become a "big" club simply because they're moving into a bigger public funded stadium

I do think it has the potential to be a pretty huge boost to them. That's a lot of extra income, even with price reductions, and London teams have a pretty substantial advantage over similarly sized clubs from other parts of England when it comes to player recruitment. Foreign players would much rather play for West Ham than someone like Sunderland simply because of the location.

I think they're going to struggle to fill that stadium.

West Ham are at best a mediocre club.

I think with the reduced prices I can see them getting around 50,000 pretty regularly. Their hinterland stretches a long way into east London and Essex, and they'll bring in quite a few more tourists wanting to catch a game at the Olympic Stadium. It's also much better connected to places in North East London, South London and Kent, and they'll probably be hoping to hoover up fans from what would traditionally be more Spurs and Charlton catchment areas.

Not sure whether Westfield will be delighted or horrified at the thought of tens of thousands of football fans traipsing through the middle of their shopping centre every other week though.

I think you'll certainly see a slow but modest rise in form for West Ham, however I cannot see how the stadiums fit for football purposes with a running track, it's like times Olympic stadium.
