Guam

Guam ranked 174th in the world, with a population of 165, 000. Have recorded back to back wins for the first time in their history, (the first win being their first ever win) beating turkmenistan and caused a major upset by beating india. I reckon auchinleck would cuff them, but what level of the juniors do u reckon they would b at if they played in the juniors?

That would be an ecumenical matter.

I was watching that documentary Next Goal Wins about the American Samoa national team who were the worst international side in the world a while back and wondered at the time where they would fit in in Scottish football.

They were truly tragic, getting beat 15-0 by fellow giants of international football like Vanuatu, and I wouldn't be surprised if a decent Scottish amateur side would turn them over.

Intriguing concept !!

Guam have a player with LA Galaxy (he was capped a couple of times for the USA), 4 more in the US second tier, 4 more in the US third tier, a variety of others playing professionally with US universities, and a couple of professionals in Mongolia strangely enough. Another has US caps at U20 level.

They pumped Taiwan a couple of years ago in the Asian Challenge Cup, advanced to the second stage of the East Asia Cup last year (before beating Taiwan and drawing with Hong Kong), and beat Turkmenistan at the weekend then India today in WC qualifiers.

At competitive intensity, I postulate they'd hash any Scottish non-league club.

Interestingly one of their midfielders spent a few years with St Patrick's Athletic in the League of Ireland - he even got a cap for the LofI XI, in the Aviva Stadium opener against Manchester United.

Well, to look at it from a slightly different angle, you're asking this question because they're in the headlines for beating India, who have a population of over 1billion to choose from (plus a sizeable, worldwide diaspora).

Do you think that with those resources India couldn't put together a side capable of beating a top Scottish junior side (who, lest we forget, come from, at best the 4th tier of part time football in Scotland, which in itself is hardly a footballing superpower)?

Well, you've got to think that after failing to pick a team from over a billion punters that could beat the mighty Guam ( current male population around 86,500 ),retention of the present selection committee might just assist the Talbot in getting a result. ;)
