GordieBoy80
Hopefully this thread will last longer than my previous efforts... Having downloaded an extension pack including Highland/Lowland League and two tiers below that I started a game with Burntisland Shipyard Amateurs to see how far I could take them, I'm now in my third season and things are going well apart from one pretty massive thing which I'll come to in a minute... As you can see I've swept the board in pretty all the non-league competitions in my first two seasons, my only venture into the Scottish Cup ended with a creditable 1-0 defeat away to Albion Rovers. At the start of my second season in charge the new chairman decided to change from amateur status to full time which has led to this at an early point of the third season as we sit atop the Lowland League with 5 games played. I had to reluctantly allow my best player Paul George to sign for Airdrie for £5500 and that has disgruntled many of my players but quite frankly I can't afford to replace him and while I have a strong starting eleven, I'm having to fill out the squad with kids. Squad depth First 5 results of Lowland League season So, will the financial troubles ruin Burntisland? Will I bugger off to another club? Or, will this thread fizzle out like all my previous ones? GordieBoy80
On the field a 6-0 win over closet challengers East Stirlingshire means the table looks like this after 6 games played: Off the field however: Oh dear...

GordieBoy80
Moving on then, still in admin but not under embargo any more Lost our first match of the season Also lost in the South Challenge Cup that the board expected us to win but to be honest I didn't really care about it, lost to one of the stronger teams in Spartans 100% record in December including Lowland Cup games and a thumping revenge over Spartans League just before going into the transfer window where any half decent offer for any of my players will probably result in a sale and an inadequate replacement from the youths Happy at being 4 points clear at this stage, if, and it's a big if we manage to retain our core it should be an interesting 3 way battle between ourselves, Spartans and East Stirlingshire at the top end. Audaces Fortuna Juvat
Squad looks good, but a bit thin - have you asked the board for more money, even if it is only a little?
GordieBoy80
Squad looks good, but a bit thin - have you asked the board for more money, even if it is only a little? Got a feeling it would be an exercise in futility considering we're in administration.
GordieBoy80
January 2017 and two loan players return to their parent clubs, Billy King chose to return to Hearts after being unimpressed with the level of football. Scott Wright returning to Celtic after breaking his ankle is a huge blow considering he was second top scorer but Oliver McBurnie signed after his release from Bradford seems to have taken on the mantle. If McBurnie, Estonian striker Bogdan Vastsuk and attacking midfielder Michael Paton are ever out at the same time then I think we'll struggle. Many of the under 20 side are receiving offers from other sides but the vast majority seem happy to see out their contract. January table and results ETA: Allowed 2nd choice keeper Ally Brown to leave on a free transfer after complaining about a lack of games and Livingston came in for him. GordieBoy80
Going to stream the Shire v Burntisland match at the start of February via twitch on http://www.twitch.tv/gordieboy80as it may have some bearing on where the title goes...
GordieBoy80
Final update before tomorrow: The game away to Shire was disappointing in that we didn't play anywhere near our capabilities imo. Played much better in the games over Selkirk and getting revenge on Vale of Leithen for inflicting our only league defeat so far The gap at the top being stretched to 6 points is pleasing though Ideally, I would like to have the title wrapped up before we play Spartans in the last league match but football does like to throw up idiosyncrasies... GordieBoy80
The first week in March eliminated East Stirlingshire from title contention after their draw at Dalbeattie Star and Spartans loss to Gala Fairydean Rovers meant that Burntisland Shipyard could clinch the title with four games remaining as goal difference meant a 31 goal swing was needed. Table at this stage: Burntisland's remaining league games: Spartans remaining league games: The home match against Dalbeattie Star with be streamed via twitch momentarily on http://www.twitch.tv/gordieboy80
Audaces Fortuna Juvat
Does it give you the crowds on the match screens and, if so, what gates can you pull in for the bigger games?

GordieBoy80
So could we lift the Championship? Dalbeattie Star helpfully lay down and Spartans defeat to Civil Service helped Now to play out the rest of the season while waiting to see who we get in the play-off(s), not really concerned about the Lowland League Cup but a double would be nice even if it is a step down from the quintuples in my first two seasons.
