Spartans EOS

Recommended Posts

Hearing Dougie Samuel told Alec Cunningham 4 days before the king cup final, that he intends to bring in an ex player and 1 or 2 older players in his LL squad to run the EOS team next year.

Horrendous timing and to ask Alec to step aside next year IMO is an disgrace!

Alec established his young side in the EOS league the 2 past years, and also this season reaching the 2 cup finals his squad play for. On there day they play terrific football and I'm sure a few would agree on that. Not bad for a team that don't pay their players.

Dougie must have sour grapes with the team with their 2 best players choosing to join Whitehill next year instead of signing for him. Looks like a pals act. I'm also told that Dougie refuses to play the EOS in bounce games.

Big mistake by Dougie and his board.

Alec is a true gent and I wish him all the best. I'm sure his phone will have been busy today.

I don't think dougie will be that bothered about alec leaving. What did he actually do apart from pick a team? Never took training and they weren't tactically aware on the park and seemed to do what they liked.

Then you have that other twat that has a go at dougie and put rubbish up on here. Don't know his name but he's always at the Spartans games as alecs run about.

Think the guy your referring too is 'Dicky'. He may be abit of an arse but he gave up his time to make the EOS team a few quid.

I think most of what he made the team went to the Lowland side as the EOS players did not get paid.

Still no news of EOS gaffer yet, could be struggling to find someone who wants to play second fiddle to Dougie's team.

Whats happening at Spartans?? Saw on Spartans website that Zorro had been appointed as EOS manager with 2 legends Cloudie & Donal also signing for the new season. Next thing the article was deleted from the website without any comment !! Happy that Ando is back but wonder why Spartans are finding it so difficult to recruit an EOS manager !!

Ties in with the story I heard weeks ago.

No idea why the sudden change. Maybe the website admin got excited too early??

They must have someone in charge if they are signing players, unless its someone above making the decisions. :thumbsdown

The eos manager shouldn't be signing any players! It's a reserve team,it should be full of young promising players from Spartans younger teams or players that are not regularly playing for the lowland team or older players that have played for the lowland team than the manager thinks can help the youngsters improve!! What's the point of having a reserve team full of players that are never going to feature for the first team??

100 % agree however the eos manager must have a say if he is dealing with the squad.

Dougie ain't one for giving the youngsters a chance however.

He could of bled the youngsters in tail end of last season when league was over.

Believe 2 players from eos side have gone to Whitehill because they just sat on LL bench when called up.

Maybe that's why no one wants to be the manager of the eos team?? I personally think it's a good job for a young coach or a manager as long as they know ware they stand regarding team selection and stuff.also the players must all accept the situation that they could be in team one week and on bench next week if Sammy sends a couple of first team players down for game time!

I think Matty and Davie started a few games for first team in cups and stuff. There decent players but if Danny doesn't think there any better than what he has that's up to him?? Both players been there for years and have had limited games.probs best for them to move on!

From Mickey Lawsons blog:

""Anyway I gave Irene a bit of time and space by taking the boys down to Ainslie Park knowing they’d get a kick of a ball on the second 3G or in the 5-a-side pitch behind the goals. Toughie was there with Danny O’Donnell and Harry Potter so we had a good blether about old times and the season ahead.

With Danny, Donal and Cloudie (at least) turning out for the “reserves” starting in August I reckon I’ll see more of Spartans EOS side than I do of their “big boys” next season.""

With Alex Cunningham taking some of his squad to CSS, I expect to see a lot of last years successful U20 squad playing in the EOS team. So it could be an interesting blend of youth and (lots of) experience playing in the EOS team.
