Season 2015-16

Recommended Posts

What's our thoughts on potential winners of leagues and cups?

What's your teams objective for the season?

Can any South team make the next stage of the Scottish Cup?

May be some changes to the Scottish Cup!! Talk of a Extra Preliminary Round as well as the Preliminary Round

Wigtown to win the league again though with Newton, Saints and Lochar coming close!! Cups will be spread out a bit too!! YMCA to pick up 5 points minimum and win a game!!

Not so sure. Heard whisperings of a few of the better Wigtown players heading for pastures new.

Could be wrong though.

Does play-offs to the LL start this year?

They'd have started this season if both champions had been licensed.

Not any change as such: but as more and more clubs get licensed - which guarantees entry to R1 - then fewer and fewer other spaces remain in R1 and accordingly a tipping point is reached where there are too many clubs for the Preliminary Round?

So it will presumably have to be divided into First Preliminary and Second Preliminary stages. According to my calculations (in the thread below), if the existing 14 Lowland League clubs and 18 Highland League clubs all get licensed, plus Coldstream and Linlithgow Rose and Bank o'Dee, then there are only 5 spaces left in R2 but 13 or 14 unlicensed clubs (depending on whether Auchinleck Talbot or Musselburgh Athletic win the Junior Cup). So you would be talking a First Preliminary of 3 or 4 ties and 7 or 6 byes, then a Second Preliminary of 5 ties.

Obviously you adjust the numbers up or down depending if more clubs get licensed and/or join SFA, or existing LL/HL clubs fail to get licensed.

Wigtown should be trying to keep players like Mcharrie. Played 1/4 of a season and he's one of the top goal scorers.

Yet he's played in midfield rather than upfront??

Def favourites in the team when a boy scoring 20+ games in 1/4 season put in midfield and a boy who's played every game upfront scores about 10!

Wonder why!!!

Managers son?? Think that could be your answer!! And McHarrie has done well for them!! Jamieson has played consistently well scoring about 30 each year for the last good few!! Heard he is leaving - will be a big miss for them

Also if Lewis Dunn, Curtiss Wilson & Jamie McHarrie are going to Dalbeattie surely there will be some money involved!!

Not necessarily. And why does that even matter?

Just a thought; Maybe it has something to do with the fact Dalbeattie Star play in a better league at a higher level and the boys want to challenge themselves.

With Mcharrie and jamieson leaving thats going to be 50 goals at least a season down. Heard Wigtown are to sign a mid 30s ex creetown player. Will he be able to step up and score 50?

Big loss with all those players leaving. All good players.

Surely Newton are favourites for the league 2015/16? They have some good players and not heard of many leaving.

Money or no money they will be in a better league and more opportunities.

Must be a good set up if all 3 of those boys are headed to play there.

Something to do wi the standard o fitba prob why boys moving on... This league has went backwards unbelievably since loss off threave n dalbeattie. Seems that like me being a supporter of wigtown ave lost a bit o interested in it this year since league was won and prob players alike as from what a hear haven't had more than 1 sub since the league was secured in the trophy cabinet again. To many dumfries teams in it ana this season has weakened the overall teams from there a think. But then again that's why they basically formed Lowlands league to shaft this league either join or turn South into amateurish

Yeah I'll agree but you would expect there to be some money as Threave seem to be throwing it around
