Charlie Adam

One of most in form players in the English Premiership at the moment, now a constant starter for Stoke and scoring goals. Time to get him back in the squad? Based on form, yes from me.

He's hit a purple patch that's for sure. Just a question of whether he fits into Strachan's system.

For me, he's far better going forward so I'm not keen on him in a sitting role. Not sure I would put him in against the likes of Germany or Poland but he's creative and he's got a goal in him.

Who do you leave out if you play him in the midfield???

Adam has been a liability in the Scotland midfield in the past. There's just no way we could trust him in one of the deeper midfield positions. The only role I could see him taking would be as an option off the bench for the role behind the striker. So I think the question is: if we need a goal late on against Ireland, Poland, or Georgia, who do we want to come on - Adam or the likes of Griffiths, May, McCormack, etc.?

He has always been one of our most talented players and he seems to really love playing for Scotland, but I'm not sure there's really a place for him in Strachan's organised and hard-working system. You either build the team around him or you don't pick him, and I'm not sure he's quite good enough to have the team built around his style (though we would have the players to do so).

Charlie Adam is ten times the player either of those three is, but he doesn't offer enough off the ball, and at times looks lethargic.

That said, he's still our most dangerous set piece taker.

No, don't disrupt the midfield by trying to crowbar him in. Good for set pieces, that's about it. He would be nowhere near a Scotland shirt if it were up to me.

I fully retract this statement if he curls in a free kick winner against Ireland btw.

Got to be called up. There isn't many of our players playing regularly at EPL level, never mind playing regularly and in superb form.

I don't think he should go straight in the team or anything but he surely must be in the squad.

I'm not sure, was that an answer to the question or not?

I think you're right though.

no thanks, adam is one of those players who no matter how well they are playing at club level, puts in a totally shit performance in an international shirt, can imagine him gifting the ball to Ireland to score the winner against us

Agreed. Another player in the Paul McStay, Brian McClair, Barry Ferguson category.

Ferguson?! Always thought he was a decent performer for the national team.
