Two goalkeepers sent off

Following the sending off of Craig Gordon and Zaluskas lucky escape in extra time yesterday, have there ever been any occurrances of a goalkeeper sent off, another goakeeper subbed on only for the sub goalie to then be sent off?

In a legendary Third Division game, when Albion Rovers played East Stirlingshire on the last day of the 02/03 season, Shire's keeper got injured in the first half, his replacement got sent off, a defender went in nets and he too was sent off. His replacement, a midfielder who was about 5'6", saved a penalty.

The Rovers won the game 3-1 and were 30 seconds away from promotion. It was a tranny-radio-to-the-ear moment of devastation when East Fife got a last minute winner against Queen's Park and overtook us to 2nd place.

I'm pretty sure Albion Rovers had 2 keepers sent off at Gayfield against Arbroath in 2011 when Arbroath thumped Rovers 6-2 when Sheerin was in his first year in charge at Gayfield.

I don't know of any video footage of the Shire game, but it's a vivid Cliftonhill memory of mine, even though I saw it as a 10-year-old.

I've dismissed the more recent Gayfield incident from my memory: partly in horror and embarrassment, but also because neither sending off was legitimate.

Slightly different..............two keepers save the same penalty kick.

Rovers' Neil Parry gave away a penalty up at Elgin a few years ago when he was playing for the mighty Queen's and got booked for protesting. He saved the penalty, only for the linesman to raise his flag and the referee to order a retake. Parry goes mental again and gets sent off. On comes our third choice keeper, schoolboy Blair Lochhead, who had hardly played a reserve game let alone a first team game and only travelled as the reserve goalie "had better things to do". His first touch in senior fitba was to save the retaken penalty kick. #scenes, as they say.

An end of season game: Harthill Royal v Dunbar United in the East Junior League South Division- two years ago I think.

Harthill's keeper gets sent off and the Royals manager goes between the sticks. He then got sent off later in the match....

Edinburgh City's keeper Alan Mackintosh got sent off in a Qualifying Cup tie against Spartans at City Park. The reserve keeper Stevie Vannett wasn't ready to come on so a peeved manager Tam Steven just put centre half Ross MacNamara in goal instead. Vannett never played for the club after that...

Used to happen to my opponents all the time on Pro Evo in the Playstation 2 days. Round the keeper, they wipe you out. Penalty and a red card for them. Glorious.

Did it against Norway once and got both keepers sent off and Kjetil Rekdal ended up in goals. The lanky fucker saved the penalty too!

I remember Mark Guidi (who was a goalkeeper) coming on as an outfield sub in a Rovers game once, think it was either Forfar or Brechin away circa 2003

Stevie Woods did the same, coming on as a sub for Motherwell against Clydebank in a League Cup match at Kilbowie, playing on the wing. Well, maybe 'playing' isn't the right term to use....
