Montrose vs Elgin

Recommended Posts

Is there a Gable End Graffiti preview this week?

Montrose ended one team's playoff hopes last week and I'm pretty worried about them doing similar tomorrow now that the pressure seems to be off them a bit as they build for the relegation play off. Our recent record at Links Park is one of our better ones away from home and our away form in general has been excellent under Jim Weir, so on paper we should win this but it's never that simple in this league and with this club.

I think a draw here coupled with East Fife not winning wouldn't be the worst set of results for us. If it comes down to the final day against East Fife, I'd rather that we were behind them on points and needing to win than ahead of them and needing to avoid defeat.

There will be later on :P

Montrose have done well in the last couple of games. Who knows if we will continue the momentum tomorrow. On paper this is the toughest of our remaining three games; Clyde home and Annan away after this, before the dreaded play-off.

yes, they will, for sure. crowds are thin at present as these games are "dead rubbers" but a lot of plans have already been made by the club and by local pubs to run buses to whoever makes the play off fina. Unless we are scudded 5-0 in the first leg, would expect a four figure crowd for the home tie, too.

Well deserved win for a hard working Montrose side. Good early pressure eventually led to a Jordan Allan opener from a shot on the turn. Elgin equalized quickly from a poorly defended corner.

In the second half Montrose were by far the better side. We hit the woodwork twice in addition to Webster's eventual winner. Elgin huffed and puffed but didn't really threaten an equalizer.

Matt Northcroft is still a genuinely atrocious referee, too. Got several decisions badly wrong.

A quite big Elgin traveling support through, credit to their one fan who was choking with seethe by the end of the game. East Fife lost too though so "James" and his tired looking side live to fight another week.

Arbroath fans love to hate the 'Mo, but we don't want you relegated.

C'mon the 'Mo.

Thanks, appreciate that. There's nowt quite like Smokies v Mo days and it'll be a sad day if it all comes to an end.

Hopefully we'll live to fight another day. Cheers mate.
