Has shortlees bum collapsed or are they going to pip ksc to the title?their manager sounds a bit like ally mccoist with all this talk about the journey back to the top and their massive support.good luck though to both teams

BigSoggy, you are obviously trying to get a reaction from Relentless and to be fair you probably will.

Looking at Shortlees' season objectively however, their cup runs may well ultimately be their downfall in the league. They will not be the first or the last team to have been left with half a seasons worth of league games to be played in a month. This usually proves too much with 2 to 3 games a week and wins needed. It is the price you pay for doing well in the major cups and unless you have the squad required, you can easily end up with hee haw to show for at the end of it.

If this is the case and there are no medals or promotion then it is down to Relentless to judge if it was a successful season or not. Would he consider getting to the latter stages of most competitions a success??? Maybe. If they do not win promotion then I do not believe it will have anything to do with 'bums collapsing', it would be asking a lot for any team in any league to win 9/10 games on the bounce.

Good luck to them in any case.

Lol not fishing at all.yes it is hard for team when thy do well in the cups at this time of season, but that's against teams that's usually round about the same level in league, they have a premier team this season that there is no doubt.and again that to me is a fail.probably will get promotion but not by being winners.have the bums collapsed ? Time will tell.will it be field of dreams or dreams in tatters?!!!

Soggy where the hell are you getting this opinion that they have a great team? Without the two quoted who else? Mason was a player but past it.......jimmy Caldwell falls into that bracket too? I watched them play the 3rd div Hurlford earlier in season which they scraped 4-3. Looking at the team, a think only knapp and gold would have got into that Hurlford side. They will get a going over from Thistle in ayrshire cup final as well am pretty sure of that so as well as trying to get a rise out of relentless.........you are actually bumming his team up more than him ha!

I've never said they were great, I said good.all the players who they got would get a game for all the other prem teams, f**k thistle would probably take them all back aswell, a couple of their other players are good, aswell.of course I thin thistle would hump them to, but they hump most teams anyway.take thistle out the equation and shortlees have a good squad compared against all the other ayrshire team.i don't think that's bumming them up.just an opinion.

Wouldn't say there bums have collapsed but for any team to go 10 games unbeaten is a very big ask especially when they are playing teams fighting for promotion / league etc. Having watched them a couple of times and playing against them I feel that they are a strong team but there's just as strong teams in that division.

Would you rather your team got beat in the 1st round of every cup competition and won the league by a point, because the other team, as usual bye the way, have a ton of games to play because of cup games. I'm saying you have only the league to play for, great yes, but we are in 3 comps at the end of the season, I would say we are the best team in the league whether we win the league or not. Or would you like your team to get too the 7th round of the Scottish a wee run in the West, the semi of the James Scott still to play, the semi of the ayrshire still to play, and end up they finish second because they had 10 games to win and fell short in a couple. and still get promoted. If I was saggy, I would admit that Shortlees have been more successful in the cups season after season, than KSC, the proof is there for all to see, as they get knocked out of the cups early, most years.

Would you take the final of the Ayrshire every season if you could, (we know we're not there yet, and we might not get there, so this is hypothetically speaking, hope that's not to big a word for you), and finish second and get promoted in the league.

Big questions to answer. I know your going to say the league is priority, and rightly so, but at Shortlees we are looking to win more than the 2nd division. We want cup success as well as league success, but sometimes cup success or runs can cost you. It might cost us, but immaterial though, I think Shortlees are the best team in the league. but time will tell. STID.

Found out for myself wolves beat them 1-0. How did they manage that. I wonder .And as far as proofs their to see go's it seems from the Ayrshire site wolves are experts at consistency. who remember,s cup runs without cups. Only the ones involve,d in them.

I would rather do nothing in the cups and win the league than have no medals at the end of the season. I had a few seasons when I palyed where we were still in with a shout of every competition in March, only to win hee haw. I look back more fondly on the seasons when we won a trophy.

Shortlees have had a good season Relentless but to say that you would rather have a run in all the cups at the expense of the league just can't be true. I'm sorry but you were never going to win the Scottish or the West, let's be realistic. A run in these competitions is great for all involved and you did great to get to the later stages, but surely you would rather have won the league? The goal for Shortlees should not be Scottish and West Cups, it should be to progress through the leagues and hopefully get to the Premier.

Just my opinion.

Shortlees (and other teams as well) need to get over this 'doing well in the cups' nonsense. If you don't win the cup you may as well have been knocked out in the first round. Teams get to the last 8/16 of amateur cups regularly without playing/beating a good team. Its not an achievement worth bleating about all the time.

If shortlees do win the league on goal difference, is that added to there cup runs ( if they win none of them) count as a successful season? Or do they need to win it at a canter due to the quality they have?
