glensmad
I was thinking today about how clubs' fortunes can dramatically change to their benefit due to events outwith their control. Two such events spring to mind for me, but I'm sure there are others. 1. Hurlford United were seconds away from relegation to the Ayrshire District League on 9th June 2012, until Shotts Bon Accord scored an injury time winner to beat Girvan 4-3 which sent Girvan down instead of Hurlford. A year later Hurlford were Super League Division One champions, and a year after that they were Scottish Junior Cup winners and 3rd place in the Super Premier League. Would that all have happened if Shotts hadn't scored that winner ? I guess we'll never know. 2. Kilsyth Rangers would have been relegated to the Central District League last summer had it not been for Kilwinning Rangers being deducted points. Almost a year on we see Kilsyth in serious contention for promotion, and who knows what will happen ? What other examples are there of clubs' fortunes dramatically improving due to events outwith their control ?

Guest svejk
Lesmahagow getting promoted from the Central Second when Forth were deducted 3 points for fielding their manager who was registered with VOC. Forth havent really been close and th Gow have bounced between Central First and Super League Thanks for the reminder ! The 'Gow have certainly kicked on from that season and good luck to them with their current promotion challenge. As for the Wanderers not really being close, we missed out by a point last season and would in fact have been promoted down at the Port had we not let a 2-0 half-time lead turn into a 4-2 reverse. As the old cliche goes, there's always next season .
RobRoyGuy
Cambuslang rangers back in central first 2006/2007 , got relegated by two point into central second after being deducted three points for fielding an inelligable player . They were briefly mentioned as one of the favourites at the start of last season however fell away and this season they have struggled. And to be fair to Hurlford, they beat Shotts 1-0 in their last game of that season, only a week after Shotts had won the Scottish Cup, so kind of made their own luck. And talking about not recovering, just look at Ashfield. Drew 7-7 on aggregate with Largs in the Premier play-off in 2013 (despite being 3-0 up in the second leg) and lost the subsequent penalty shootout. By that point Rankin had already agreed to join Irvine Meadow and no doubt a few of the Ashfield players had as well, but another season in the top division may have saved them from their current decline.
