A draw is the ideal result as far as we are concerned. If one team were to win though, I'd want it to be Poland, mainly because a win for us in Dublin in June would put us in a terrific position for a playoff spot at the very least.

I would say a Poland win gives us a very, very good chance of a playoff place but reduces our chances of automatic qualification. Because it would put the Poles in a very strong position whilst giving us a shot to finish off Ireland.

An Ireland win would help us have a shot to qualify automatically but would also increase our chances at finishing 4th and missing out altogether.

A draw would pretty much help us all around so I'll be hoping for that, but if one team is going to win I'd prefer Ireland because I don't fancy us if we have to go through the playoffs, also, I think Poland are likely to win the return leg of this fixture so it would be better for them both to beat one another than Poland to get 6 points.

How are the bookies giving 2/1 on Poland for this? I thought Ireland were pretty fucking dreadful against us.[/quote

I'm all over that already, which obviously guarantees a home win or draw.

Plastic paddies, you can thank me later.

Neil McCann's bias is embarrassing to listen to even as a Scotland fan. Apparently if Ireland don't win tonight it's all over and they won't be able to catch Scotland, where there could be a whole 2 points difference with the teams still to play in Dublin.

The least preferred outcome for us is probably a Southern Ireland win, but I expect them to be humped tonight. O'Neill is enough of a buffoon without taking into consideration the total gang he has to work with.

A Poland win, then we can look to bury ROI in June.

I see 'total gang' is the new lingo on these boards
