Rutherglen Glencairn v Clydebank

I'm looking forward to tomorrow's match in the Central League Cup, our first competitive meeting with Clydebank for almost five years. I was quite surprised that it was that long, as it had seemed to me that we meet each other quite a lot, but we haven't actually played each other competitively since Willie Harvey took over as manager in the summer of 2010.

We played each other three times in a month towards the end of Smith & Patterson's reign, with The Bankies winning the last meeting in the quarter finals of this competition. The other two matches (league games) were won by the away side on both occasions. There have been two friendly matches between the sides since then, with The Glens winning at Holm Park and Clydebank winning at Glasgow Green.

Glencairn will be hoping to carry the momentum of the last three weeks into this cup tie, but Clydebank will unquestionably be favourites, and of course are the defending champions. It wouldn't surprise me to see Harvey switch the team around a wee bit tomorrow to give a few players some pitch time, but he will also want to balance that out by keeping the momentum going, so the team shape will be interesting.

Bankies will also be pleased to get away from the pressure of fighting the drop and getting league points, so I anticipate a good open encounter with a few goals.

Looking forward to saying hello tomorrow Pedro. Just keep the rain gods sleeping if you would

Heavy rain forecast from 3am through to 8am, but hopefully we should be ok. The pitch has been fine recently, it was looking in good nick before the Largs game last weekend.
