Gretna 2008 v Whitehill Welfare

Scottish Lowland Football league

Tuesday 17 March 2015

Raydale Park, Dominion Road, Gretna, DG16 5AP

Kick Off 7.45pm

Spent a bit of time putting this together for our Facebook page so thought I might as well stick it up here too.

Earlier this season we drew 1-1 with the Borderers at Ferguson Park. This will be the 7th time we have faced Gretna at Raydale Park. In the previous 6 our record reads; Won 2, Drawn 2, and lost 2. Goals for 10 Goals against 11. We are though unbeaten in all 4 league meetings with the 2 losses coming in cup competitions.

With Edinburgh City currently on 53 points and our ability to still reach 57 the Meadowbank side will also be watching on with interest.

Treat it like a Cup game is my advice :)

Grimbo

Ps is it really on?

I'm no taking your advice again Grimbo ... I had my mortgage on Spartans winning the league and the betting slip was in the bin at Xmas ...

So, what odds Gretna on that top 3 finish? Seems the weight of those big bets shown on here have derailed the team.

Closer look at the results during that run they went on will show most of their victims were from the lower parts of the table. Flat track bullies?

Gretna, although near the border isn't in the borders.

By all accounts the score could have been higher last night. Not quite sure what has happened at Gretna but the bottom has well and truly fell out of their season in recent weeks. They will now be lucky to finish in the top two and this could have huge financial implications with not qualifying for the Challenge cup next season.

Does 2nd qualify for challenge cup ?

I know it gets a bye into scottish cup 2nd round but would clubs no prefer revenue from a 1st round scottish tie ?

No heard much from Gretna lads on here as to last night's performance were we that good :P

Cant comment as to Gretna performance Mr Broon , as stated in a earlier post i was unable to get across from wonderland to Raydale on a Evening ko, due to work commitments.

A 4-0 away win score line must have been a joy to yourself like along with Gretna's other rivals for the 2nd league position ,

I will have to read Dougie's news report on the game when posted on Gretna's web page

The up and coming away game for Gretna 2008 at Edinburgh City on 28th March is looking very important now hope their early season form comes back.

As since Spartans defeat ending a 10 match winning run - Gretna have struggled with 1 win, 1 draw and 3 defeats in last 5 games.

Who apart from city are the remaining games against? As I've said before, the run flattered to deceive as the collective opponents weren't any of the top 7 sides.

Not at all.

Newky was himself. At least you know where you are with him. He didn't go over the top in his celebrations. Much the same as I would have been if we had won by four.

I will still bring the flag to EK for you Friday night. It should be a good match, I am looking forward to it.
